Toto is not a Prog band. Or better... I have noticed that more and more Toto is a name that is associated with Prog, especially when you have to give prizes.

Certainly they have written some Prog songs. But this does not mean that they are Prog.

Then I remember well an old thread. And I agree fully with the analysis that Toto is not a Prog band.

But I'm noticing a lot of inconsistencies between different sources: those who consider Toto an AOR band and those who are considered Toto a Prog band. Trying to interpret both sources believed what I have just opened this thread asking me a question:

Are Toto a sort of Prog Related band, so as to justify their inclusion in competitions for Prog music?

And if this can be (also) just... is a proper reason (though not too much) for considering Toto a band for PA?

Because I'm noticing that often (too often) Toto is considered a prog band (today) because it uses only heavy arrangements... And Toto use them. (and today this is a motive because a Rock band be considered Prog!)

P.s.: I think that Toto are an example of Prog Related because too often Toto are used by people who do not know what the prog as an example of Neo Prog! This is wrong.

But I think it is right to discuss and Toto still give a clear answer in the light of what I wrote above. I would not say more.
Mandy: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=56298&KW=toto
I know the thread of the link. Here, however, I would like a discussion to determine if the light of new guidance on whether are Prog or not Toto are considered a right band for PR or not. And, therefore, if Toto merit the inclusion in PA or not.

And this without further discussion (controversial or not).

As Ghost rider once described Camel : Toto plays music which is nice for the less demanding (people, mood, etc...). Well, Camel are much more demanding than Toto.

Personally I think this is the place to draw the line (and leave Toto on the other side of it).

my 2 cents
