Topic: A cartoon about Prog... too funny! Posted: November 02 2009 at 15:11 |
Yes! That was excellent. I've got to track down the whole thing now.

I just remembered a great line. Dean says, "Hit me aagain!" and Doc says, "Okay, but no air drumming this time. Bruford can change the tempo so fast you could snap your wrist."

The thing is, only someone who knew prog could have come up with that. So, I think one of the guys is a prog fan, and was poking fun at himself.

I know you were joking Akajazzman, but honestly found it full of cliches about Prog.

Ivan, I was joking abou the "hurt" thing sheesh... The thing pokes fun at Prog wonks! Simple as that. I'm proud to be a Prog wonk, but from the rest of the world's perspective we're considered a little obessive and possibly dorky. And the cartoon pokes fun at that.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force even got Neil Peart to play himself in the ATHF movie.

I made a thread about this after watching the episode last night, but it was moved, and the title got changed.
It was very funny. Doc was telling Dean that Prog was part of pursuing a career in super science.

Yep is a mixture of Roundabout and Close to the edge, comming from an OSIBISA coverr.
But honestly, I find the whole cartoon dull and boring.
Hurt me? I don't believe this thing is able to hurt anybody.

It's sort of a play on Roundabout. Most likely they couldn't get the copyright to play the actual song and made a song similar to it. |
Sounds like Close to the Edge, no?
|
Just saw the episode and, yes, the initial song is a placeholder/homage to CTTE (guessing they couldn't or didn't bother getting the rights). There is more to go along with that short clip and let me be the first to say: Badass

Spacey intro with a similar melodic line to Roundabout... similar tempo.... energetic and predominant bassline....
Of course the vocal line does sound like Anderson on CTTE.

Hilarious! Sounds nothing like Roundabout though. Will the whole episode be focused on prog?

I'm not sure. Someone just sent it to me, and I clicked on it. Don't know anything about the creator. Makes you think how that joke deserves to be on like the Simpsons or Family Guy... The thing is...its true. I remember being "done" like this by some Prog freak back in the early 80s, and then I did it to other people over the years.
