The band from Southern California debuted. I think that it is a band that has gone out the flavor that symphonic where it has diversity is good.

Yes, I believe Symphonic would be a good placement for them - if the occasional mainstream touches don't get them sent directly to CrossoverWink.

I actually think they have an eclectic touch to them. Have listened to about half their album now, and the Gentle Giant references are more than obvious in places- entire segments where this band seemingly pays their tributes to vintage GG.

Then again while the instrumental bits are rather challenging and diverse, the verse parts are at times pure mainstream. To the point where I'd think at least some folks in here would claim that due to this the band can't really be deemed progressive at all.

Summa summarum: I smell an elongated process ending up in Crossover in a year's time or so. I'll leave it to others to take this one to the gallows though, just having a say here :-)

chi ching... LOL

next up...taking bets on the Wheel of PA's destiny...   odds on heading toward the Ping-Pong table...

currently Vegas has the odds of the group remaining unadded due to ping-poingings at 3-2.

place your bets people...

I'm down for a hundred...  if I win..  awesome.. if I lose...  the group wins LOL

seriously though.... yeah... I remember some rather obvious GG citations... err.. tributes.  Then again... that doesn't say musically they are GG..stylistically.  Sympho should be sympho you would think.... even if using occasional Willie Nelson citations LOL

Hmmm, when sympho says that these guys aren't the real thing:

...then I rather think that the Martians are in a really uphill battle in that department ;-)

There's only one sample on MySpace but if the whole album's like this than it should get a YES from the Symphonic team. I'll head the suggestion in their direction.

It was ping-ponged a bit, as was suggested in this thread earlier that it would be.

Symph recommended Eclectic, Eclectic evaluated it and suggested Crossover.

Here's the charts: http://progfreak.com/Mars-Hollow,_dbe,artists,_auto_6789769.xhtml?path=pa/recent

It has at least one firm positive yes for Crossover, and another "wouldn't mind it in Crossover"). It looks like it's pretty much cleared for Crossover.

PMing a team member can be a really good way to expedite progress (lot of teams have backlogs since they evaluate a lot of music), but I'll have a  word with the Crossover team.
