Locomotive was a British band which started its career as psychedelic-pop outfit. However in the late 60' they changed style drastically into jazz-rock combo with very important brass section. They recorded only one album full of Hammond organ and brass arrangements. They can be compered to Colosseum, Samurai, Chicago and even Van Der Graaf Generator at times.

Line-up:

Pete Allen (bass guitar, 1965-66), Mike Kellie (drums, 1965-66), Danny King (vocals, 1965-66), Brian "Monk" Finch (saxophone, 1965-66), Jim Simpson (trumpet, 1965-67), Richard Storey (saxophone, organ, 1965-66), Chris Wood (saxophone, flute, 1965-66), Joe Ellis (bass guitar, 1966-67), Norman Haines (vocals, keyboards, 1967-69), Bill Madge (saxophone, 1966-69), "Mooney" Mazzone (drums, 1966-67), John Barry (saxophone, 1966-67), Mick Hincks (bass guitar, vocals, 1967-70), Bob Lamb (drums, 1967-70), Mike Taylor (trumpet, 1968-69), John Caswell (guitar, vocals, 1970), Keith Millar (guitar, keyboard, vocals, 1970), Dick Heckstall-Smith (saxophone), Lyn Dobson (saxophone), Chris Mercer (saxophone), Henry Lowther (trumpet)

Their original organist later created his own "Norman Haines Band" (already suggested by me for PA).

Brass-rock elements remind B,S & T, but IMO jazz-rock isn't main direction there. More psychedelic, keyboards based sound.

To be honest I'm not big specialist of jazz-rock. For my it sounds jazzy so I chose jazz-rock...
However for sure it's progressive rock.  Maybe proto-prog is a good place for them???

The MySpace samples are disabled, and those on RateYourMusic are very short. I've found these two tracks on YouTube:

Doesn't seem prog to me, but more like late 60s rock, with simple music with organ, occasional brass and orchestral arrangements. Maybe proto-prog.
