Heya.

I was wondering if anyone could help me. My dad is Steve Borrill from the band Spirogyra, and I thought it was about time that I pulled up my socklings and learnt some of their stuff. Problem is I'm not that skilled on guitar, so figuring things out by myself is beyond my addled young mind. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me where I can find any Spirogyra tabs. I would love you forever.

Hi Quiche,

welcome aboard, love your dad's work in his group , (the reviews are mine) and I will investigate the Burn The Bridges album soon. Along with Comus and The Trees , Spirogyra is my fave folk-prog group!

As for the tabs , should your old man not be the best source , he probably has the originals.....

Your dad is Steve Borrill?!?!  Tell him that South Korea loves Spirogyra!  I have a different opinion, but a show in Seoul would be a big draw!

BTW, why not ask the old man to teach you a few tunes?

I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....

Actually Spirogyra records just came out on Korean label Si-Wan.

For that big show , they might have to reform since they have not done anything new in some 30 years.

Are you sure you are not confused with the US latino-fusion Spiro Gyra group ?

Problem with my dad is he probably has tabs.... somewere... in a box.... in the shed... at the back... under lots of really heavy stuff...maybe. I should probably just get him to teach me...

Tell him I love his works and the day Spirogyra wants to reform and play in Belgium , there is the Spirit of 66 in Verviers where all the legends are coming.

I am in touch with Martin Cockerham and he is writing and recording again. He asked me to set up the official Myspace page for Spirogyra.

Why is there no mention of this duo on Progarchives?

I'll update the Spirogyra link, thanks Clap

No I am not aware of Gaskin/stewart addition plans either.

This is their website http://www.davebarb.demon.co.uk/

Dave & Barbara played live dates a few years back with Gavin Harrison (of Porcupine Tree) on drums and Dave contributed orchestral bits to Fear Of A Dark Planet.

I've learned Grandad by listening to it, the fingerpicking and all...its pretty simple and stright forward, I also don't have the best guitar skills but I could maybe video tape it and send you it?

I'll try and find a friend who can translate it into a tab for you!

By the way, this is incredible that your dad is Steve Borrill!!  Incredible.

You like Our Lady Peace too I see...classic, one of my early favorites before my crazy prog excursions...

Wow, the last post she did was in June of '05, and only 2 posts. I have a feeling she isn't coming back.
