I saw Anderson and Wakeman at Southend a few years back. They do a nice informal show with some great Wakeman jokes, hopefully some new songs and Anderson doing solo version of TFTO on the piano.

It was so informal the guy behind us fell asleep.

Great that they play together. And both most have a better health now, seeing the amount of dates. Very good. Maybe they won't come to the continent, but I'm happy for all you British people Smile

certainly an interesting gig - split approx 50/50 between reworked yes songs alongside their own material; Anderson had a great deal of difficulty introducing songs due to a recurring fit of the giggles, but his voice is surprisingly strong still.

I guess I liked about 2/3s of the gig, as some of the new songs did not appeal, some of the reworked Yes songs to my mind did not work & Wakeman didn't break a sweat all night, but there were some exceptional moments too - Anderson singing 'Soon' beautifully as an encore, a gorgeous version of Wonderous Stories & Anderson doing an impromptu acappella extract from Close To The Edge in response to repeated requests from the audience.

Hint - if you need a wee at any time, wait until they introduce Owner Of A Lonely Heart & don't re-enter the hall until then finish...

An interesting & overall enjoyable evening, I'd give it 7/10

Cool, I wish I could go, but I'm at the other side of the ocean. However, did they play "And you and I"?

I'd like to hear that. Perhaps if they do release the album from the tour...

Went to the Colston Hall gig.
Very much no frills with no backdrop (just a black curtain) and very little equipment. Rick uses 2 keyboards and Jon has 2 guitars. Thats it!
The warmth towards the pair of them is tangible from the audience.

The set seems to alternate between new stuff and reworkings of Yes classics. To be honest I found the new stuff pretty dull reminding me a little of Jon and Vangelis' doomed 4th album 'Page Of Life' which sunk without much trace. Just too syrupy and lacking any interesting ideas for me.

As far as the old songs I very much enjoyed Time and A Word and Sweet Dreams. Less convinced by And You And I , Starship Trooper, Turn of The Century which needs a band. I expected a bit more bombast from Rick but he kept it all very subtle and just a  bit too quiet for my liking. Do I really want semi-acoustic versions of massive symphonic prog tracks? Not really.

What I most enjoyed about the evening was the banter between Jon and Rick. The quips and teasing of Jon from Rick keep coming so much so that you have a classic straight man ,funny man combo. The Morecambe and Wise of prog.Big smile

btw I've got to plug the restaurant opposite The Colston Hall called 'The Katmandu'. If you ever visit Bristol make sure you check out this little beauty. They do Nepalese as well as Indian cuisine of the very highest order.

In summary 10/10 for the evening meal, 6/10 for the gig.
