This piece of junk recently visited Montréal on it's first scheduled Air France flight and I was there at Pierre Elliot Int'l Airport to see it. Now, before talking about design features, passenger configurations, systems, airspace separation required to bring one of these f**kers into an IFR controlled landing ( as a result of wake turbulence ) I believe the separation would have to be at least 12 - 14 Km or about 11 nautical miles ( wouldn't want to be in a Cessna 152 following too close on this leviathon's ass end .

Why the freak do we have to squish 558 poeple into a single fuselage. Might as well bring the Hindenberg back because if one of these b*****ds goes down automatically over 500 people snuff it ) save for miracles ) not to mention people on the ground if it goes down over a populated area perhaps as a reult of a bird strike on take-off. I was also doing some research on Airbus,' safety record in general. Scary.

So, from a layamn's point of view thoughts on this "thing". Would you fly on it? I'd rather drive a Ford Edsel in a Formula One race myself.

I think that they eventually recovered the black box ( which is actually red ). They had to use a nuclear sub. Military aircraft don't have room for those sort of things. A civilian flying on a demonstration flight for media purposes had to sign a document  releasing us of anything that could go wrong. Believe me many things went wrong. When I flew 111s when on exchange with the Aussies we needed  two guys to flly the aircraft and therefore  no media flights were permitted.

It is wierd as a former military pilot I still suffer from acrophobia ( fear of heights ).

I see that the one who hit the bottom of the Atlantic last year was an A330 and the one that went into the Indian Ocean (also last year) was an A310... I guess each new one has it's own new problems LOL
