This was the first time I had seen this great American prog band and  I wasn't dissappointed ...they rocked big time!! I was also very pleased that they stuck to playing their classic seventies stuff and didn't play any song written after about 1977... which was great. The performance was full of energy from 5 old guys who aren't frightened to go for it.At times it got a bit chaotic like in the middle of Song For America but I thoroughly enjoyed myself standing with all the mad Kansas fans and singing along to Dust In The Wind at the end.

Overall 9/10 for the set list ( I would have preferred Death Of Mother Nature Suite to Magnum Opus),7/10 for the performance (they seemed a little under rehearsed maybe?) 5/10 for the sound quality (too muddy and the keyboards were frequently drowned out) 10/10 for entertainment (5 'old' guys letting their hair down big time)

Glad you had a good time Richard.  Last year Kansas had 2 songs from the more recent stuff.  I miss one which was Icarus 2 from Somewhere to Elsewhere. Very proggy with a contemporary sound.  As for DOMNS the only band I know playing that is Protokaw which was their song many moons ago.  In fact they are probably dropping it from their set after July  to make room for new material.

I saw Kansas too in London on Sunday.  We drove all the way from Bristol (270 mile round trip) but it was worth it to hear "Icarus", "Magnum Opus", "Miracles Out Of Nowhere", "Wayward Son" etc played live.  It was the first time I'd seen them since 1981 when they played the Monsters of Rock Festival in Stuttgart, Germany with Blue Oyster Cult (magnificent then and now!), Iron Maiden (almost prog in my view!), Motorhead and Blackfoot!  I hope they don't wait 25 years before they play the UK again.

You had a bit further to go than me then as I drove from Swindon, some 40 miles nearer.

I could have given you a lift.  I say Bristol but its nearer Weston-super-Mare than it is Bristol.  I just assumed the majority of people will have heard of the former but not the latter!

Hey Wrax, I drove you to the gig and I came from Bristol out to nearer WSM!

Worth it though, even with stereo vocal accompaniment from behind me throughout!

Hi there!

I saw Kansas last night in Paris (french fan) and it was just great!

First time for me but really good setlist (I just missed Pinnacle, Child of Innocence and Journey from Mariabron) and they were in good shape.

There was a good atmosphere too and I would say about 1200 people for a 1400 tickets venue, so a good crowd. Robbie said they had not been so welcome for a long time and the guys look very happy.

I hope they'll be back soon in Paris cos they just rock! It's a shame they're not broadcast on radio cos their music is so alive and beautiful, every song is a jewel!
