I would need to listen to more of each band. Like what I've heard by each though.

Anathema have a way with soundscapes that puts them well ahead of Blackfield in my books...

Anathema only take this because Alternative 4 and Judgement are the two best melancholic rock/metal albums of recent years. Otherwise it's closer, and of a lesser overall quality.

Anathema, even though I consider Blackfield's first two albums great.

how can you say itīs just because of alternative 4 and judgement? anathema have an history with great albums before and after those two albums, namely eternity, AFDTE, natural disater and WHBWH (one of the best releases last year). Blackfield has two great albums (the first 2). Blackfield II is one of my favourite albums but honestly welcome to my dna is weak (musically and lyrically). comparing a band like anathema that have evolved and done a few reference albums in its genre since 1991 to a band that has 3 studio albums (being one ("dna") kind of weak for blackfield/steven wilsonīs standards) is not really comparable...
