Colosseum are scheduled to make around 19 appearances throughout Germany, Austria and Italy from the 15th June to the 18th July, plus three Festival gigs...one in Finland on the 23rd July, one in Poland on the 13th August and at the Zappanale Festival, Bad Doberan, North Germany on the 20th August, which at the moment looks like being their final appearance . This is very likely to be their last tour, due to Barbara Thompson's progressively worsening Parkinson's condition, which makes live perfomance ever more difficult for her.

Didn't find that link very useful. Couldn't find any dates.

Not playing the UK I presume then? Shame. One of the best gigs I ever saw was Colosseum at Swindon Art Centre about 6 years ago.

Sadly not, Richard.  No UK promoter, it seems, is prepared to offer more than £2000 and it costs more than that to put the band onstage. The fact is that they have always had a bigger following in Europe and can command fees that make it worth all the logistical problemsin bringing the band together...writing and rehearsing, hiring sound and light etc etc.

I'll check with Jon and try and get some info about that. I know that he's been trying to get it edited and finished, but things keep getting in the way...like interviews for the book etc.

Meant to apologise Richard. I had to take the dates down in order to update them. You must have gone in during that break.  The new dates are now on my blog.

]ust checked this with Jon and I think there is a bit of confusion. There isn't a live DVD of Colosseum in the pipeline, but there is one for Barbara Thompson, which Jon is struggling to finish work on and release in time for the June/July tour. Hope that helps.

Sadly, the answer at the moment is 'no' to both. It really comes down to the fact that, while Colosseum certainly still have a following in France and the UK, it doesn't compare to the German speaking territories, or Italy. Because of the fact that the band now only exists when they come together to record (which they are doong as I write) or tour, they don't own their own sound and lighting set-ups and have to hire them, together with a crew (about 5 people).  Combined with the band members, that's 11 people on the road when they tour...hotels and travel for that many (and that's every day...including days off)  doesn't come cheap. So, bottom line...Colosseum can only affford to play those countries where there are  promoters able to offer a  fee that covers the running costs and leaves something over for the musicians. So far no-one has in the UK or France.

There is some encouraging newsabout Barbara on Jon's website.  New meds are working well and she is feeling like picking up her saxes again! Clap  Whether that means there is a possibility of another tour...well, read Jon's recent post.
