Having just picked up the new album Nine Types Of Light by massive indie band TV On The Radio, I was shocked to see that bassist Gerard Smith passed away just yesterday of lung cancer, aged 36. Nine Types Of Light, which he played on despite his worsening illness, will be his memorial. The band intends to continue.

	Wow, what a shame. That band is definitely one of the best indie groups around, and it's sad that Smith won't be around to see them reach the superstardom that I feel they're probably guaranteed.
