I don't know what to say. This sounds great, hearing new music from her, but it's said in many places, that the music won't be the main focus on this record although it will be released as a cd and a vinyl too. The tracklist is this

1.Thunderbolt
2.Moon
3.Crystalline
4.Hollow
5.Dark Matter
6.Virus
7.Sacrifice
8.Mutual Core
9.Cosmogony
10.Solstice

"Björk has described the project as a multimedia collection "encompassing music, apps, internet, installations, and live shows"" (http://consequenceofsound.net/2011/03/bjork-readies-ipad-album-biophilia/)

The record will be out in september 26th as several different applications. How's that possible? The Guardian used the track nr. 6 "Virus" as an example: http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/2011/may/28/bj-rks-biophilia Where apparently the song is also a game which you have to play through to be able to listen to the song. And all that jazz. Well, it won't make me buy any apple-product, that's for sure, but still, it's the first ever all-app-album, and some say this might be the future of music. God I hope not.

Heh, I've heard other people talk about transcending the barriers of the album format in the digital age (I remember Arcade Fire or someone had a thing online with a series of pictures/videos for each song), but she's the first one to really go for it. I find her somewhat annoying most of the time, but good for her, I guess. I don't see it being the "future of music", but I can't fault her for trying.

Agreed.

I've heard that the music is supposed to be interactive, so that you can play with commands and manipulate the music, which is probably the reason why the album is released for iPads. If so I am cool with it (otherwise I'd be pretty annoyed).

Very interesting ... I'm interested in seeing what she does. Being a programmer obsessed with music, I often wonder how the marriage of software and music may create value for music collectors to start collecting digital music as opposed to hard copies. Haven't come up with anything myself so it'd be interesting to see what she did come up with.

The two songs I've heard from it sound very good. Like if you combined Homogenic with Oversteps by Autechre.

I have only heard Crystalline, but I agree with stonebeard's explanation of the sound.

Wonder what kind of game/application would fit in with this song :/ Though my first guess was wrong, I don't think this song at least requires a bloody ipad to sound good or to make me enjoy it.

I could be very enthiusastic about this idea... if there wasn't this "Ipad is good for your health, eat some" vibe.

But if this multimedia project is also developed on internet or any multimedia support, I won't scream in frustration.
