The King is Dead, a three star album from The Decemberists, is available as a $5 MP3 download from Amazon.com.  I don't know if the sale will last all month, but it's available today on the Android app.

good album, far from the decemberists best, and not good as an intro to the band
who hiccuped endlessly trying to giggle but wound up with a sob

I did not like, and gave it 2 stars. The fact that it isn't prog didn't bother me at all, but everything was so dull sounding, couldn't wait till it was over. Also, most country music annoys me.

A really great album.  As others said, not prog, but I like alternative and folk rock as well.  I like their sound overall, and the song writing is solid on this one.

fantastic album, their most cohesive yet, and I generally don't get into countryish rock
