I would support this; this guy is affiliated with the great Ayreon after all, and Threshold.

His work with Threshold, Landmarq, Ayreon etc. was tremendous, and he has one of the best singing voices anywhere - but the solo stuff I've heard from him is hardly cutting edge prog (ie. the albums Cosmas & Let's Start A Commune). Great AOR material, with some beautiful ballads on Cosmas in particular and a couple of more rocky uptempo numbers on Commune, but if he's to be included on here I can't see it being anywhere other than in prog related - which he deserves because of his involvement with the bands mentioned above.
2 Typical songs from Cosmas: Beautiful music indeed, but is it prog? - It certainly won't excite the prog metal guys too much!! Just for the record, he has a 2-disc solo career spanning compilation coming out in October called "I Thought The World Was Listening (1997 - 2011)". |

I'll listen to one of his solo albums and then come up with a decision about wether he'll be evaluated or not.
Thank you for the suggestion regardless.

The DVD that he released earlier this year is quite something: Available from either vidiArtsgroup (who are responsible for making the DVD, and supply either a 2 or 3 disc version of it) http://www.vidiarts.eu/index.php?id=shop or Just For Kicks Music (2 disc version only, I think) http://justforkicks.de/detail.asp?sid=195102M87N209N109N81&uid=0&id=12621&lid=1.
The 3 disc version has about 8 hours of footage, but some of it is rather old and video quality may not be the very best. The 2 disc version has about 5 hours, but both sets include a full concert from October 2009 (Boerderij, Zoetermeer) with a really excellent band: - Damian on vocals, Ruud Jolie on guitars (MAIDEN UNITED), Kristoffer Gildenlöw (PAIN OF SALVATION, DIAL) on bass, Chris Mars on keyboards, Dirk Bruinenberg (ELEGY, PATRICK RONDAT) on drums and special guests Nic Slack on keyboards and Paul Jude Wilson on vocals. It includes some tracks that were originally sung by him in his prog/prog metal days with the other bands he was in. The 2 disc version is €24,95 (incl VAT), & the 3 disc version €34,95 (incl VAT). Here's a YouTube sample of the sort of thing to expect: And Here's LiveProg's very thorough review of the package: |

Going on the samples posted here that's a definite no. |

The samples are pretty representative of his whole solo catalogue. I've listened to all the albums now - there's not a scrap of metal in them, and barely anything you could really call prog. It's simply a case of whether he gets approved for addition to prog related in recognition of his excellent contributions to the other bands he sang with. That's not to say that his solo stuff isn't worth listening to - there are many stunningly beautiful AOR ballads to savour, but it's not the sort of material that would typically qualify for addition on here in its own right.
