Karnataka embark on the first (UK-based) leg of their 'New Light' tour in early 2012. This is their first time out with new members Cagri Tozluoglu (keys), Colin Mold (ex-Kara, violin/guitar) and Hayley Griffiths (vocals), and we're being promised a set of favourites old and new, with possibly the first airing of some brand new material as well (a taster for their new album, due later next year).

TBA - Announcement soon! London

What are they like? For the uninitiated, think of Pink Floyd, late 80s Marillion and Clannad jamming together on a hilltop at sunset. You probably won't be far wrong there. It's celtic rock - no bagpipes, guaranteed, although uillean pipes are a distinct possibility - with progressive and world music tendencies. All the latest on the tour and all of Karnataka's other activities can be found on their website at http://www.karnataka.org.uk.

Formed in 1997, Karnataka have been around a while in different configurations, and they've supported artists as diverse as Status Quo, Porcupine Tree and All About Eve.

There will be further dates throughout the year (along with some festival dates), and *hopefully* (no promises!) some news next year about shows in the US and Europe.

Familiar with the band? Come and see the new line-up work their familiar magic. New to the band? Check out the sound samples on their website, and if what you hear intrigues you, please come along: I feel sure that you'll be very glad that you did.

For those of you who do come along, feel free to stop by the merch table, where I will endeavour to sell you as much new music and tasteful tour-related clothing as you can carry... wink

Thanks for listening!

Ah, so you were one of the victims of the last line-up change... Rest assured, this line-up is a very different kettle of fish and nothing's getting cancelled this time. Assuming of course that enough people buy tickets for each show that the venues don't pull the shows - sadly a very real risk in this economic climate, so if anyone out there is on the fence about buying tickets before the show(s), please buy them ahead of time!

I've had the privilege of hearing the new line-up in rehearsal... Having two guitarists (or, depending on the song, one guitarist and a voilinist!) have definitely beefed up the sound quite a bit, and Hayley's well on the way to making the back catalogue her own. I think this tour is going to surprise a lot of people.

I definitely want to see them but there are a couple of other things to buy before I'll be getting a ticket.
