Unlike a lot of people, I love Insurgentes and find it better than the last couple of Porcupine Tree releases. I love the overall dark and heavy atmosphere. I also like the Beardfish, Frost, Karmakanic, VDGG and the Tangent releases. Overall another strong year with Steven Wilson edging out my other favourites ever so slightly.

It seems like exceptionally weak year for prog, judging by a little number of albums (15) which reached the 100 ratings - quorum. I would vote for "Love Remains The Same" from Von Hertzen Brothers. Outstanding album, but with only 46 ratings.
From this list - nothing interesting for me. No vote, unfortunately...

Agreed, I looked at this and thought 'wow, such a poor year'. Pure for me.

I found it to be a pretty decent year, its just that most of the really good stuff doesnt have 100+ votes. Bantom to Behemoth.

this, but I voted for B&B

I also like those muchly, and will pull a Logan and mention Rational Diet's At Work, but I'll give B&B a vote too.

This is my first time voting for one in the poll too -- I have yet to hear more than samples of the album you chose, but seem to remember liking it. I'd also like to get Trisector at some time (so a stronger poll than others for me in that i'm interested in a few choices).
I get tired of always just mentioning others, a reason I did my polls, but really don't know (and/ or like) much of this popular modern "Prog" (term I commonly dislike, but for want of a better word) that well.

I love Insurgentes and some of the others, but Traced In Air got my vote, easy.
Can't wait for Cynic's new EP on November 11th!

Peculiarly this is one of the most difficult polls I've participated in here on PA. Well I guess 2008 must be one of my favourite modern prog years because almost all of these albums mentioned here - I just love them! Ahh, I can't vote. Choosing between Karmakanic and Beardfish and Frost* and Tangent would probably end up giving me a serious brain injury. Edit: so technically I didn't participate, sorry.

Well, this poll has been closed. These three albums are advancing to Semi-Final Round:
"Who´s the Boss in the Factory?" by Karmakanic
"Traced In Air" by Cynic
"Bantam To Behemoth" by Birds and Buildings (advanced over Pendragon with the same number of votes due to better position on PA ratings)
Thanks for your votes!
