Not recommended reading for anyone of a nervous dispositon...& especially if they like "Memories Of Machines" (as I do!)

They should be inducted under Psychedelic/Space Rock, no question about that on my mind. The project is very similar to both No-Man and Nosound.

Indeed. In fact their 2011 album has one song that appears (in slightly different form) on 2008 No-Man's album Schoolyard Ghost. But that's not the end of it, whole feeling, atmosphere of Warm Winter is very similar to the one of Schoolyard.

Yes it looks suspiciously like PA stuff, but from the samples above I'd rather put it where Blackfield is, and that appears to be Prog-related. Would that be an option? Or is psych/space actually looking into this? |

I think this is quite a few notches above Blackfield in the prog scale and, like I said, the project is part of the Nosound/No-Man family, both under psych/space. Now, the question that arises is, should those two even be under psych/space? But that's for another topic, this is a just about finding a proper place for Memories of Machines and, for the time being, I think psych/space is the best fit. Well, the album I know most by No-Man is Schoolyard Ghost(s) - and I suspect it's not the one that was reason for Psych addition. That album would probably grant Crossover addition, which is where I would see Memories of Machines. But they were already suggested and suggestion failed. However, my would be YES (I didn't manage vote in time) was based on similarity with Schoolyard. |
