Alcest's new album is officially out tomorrow.
My copy arrived today and it's been on constant rotation ever since this morning. From what I've heard so far, there are very few black metal vocals, it's much more shoe-gaze orientated, and it's also rather outstanding... It feels like everything this man has been working towards has come together in one album, but this is just an initial opinion, so I won't elaborate just yet. My opinion could easily change. The album is available for free streaming here: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7BF53AFB2555C55E What do you people think?

Phenomenal. Even better than the previous one (after listening to it constantly for two days).

Late convert that I am, I'll be getting this one as soon as it's available. I don't care whether it's black/white/blue metal for I am not sufficiently familiar with the Forms, but if it sounds at all like the last one, as they say in poker, I'm All In.
So listened to a couple of the youtube pieces. Where's the carnival barkers?, for I am a sucker for this stuff. I'll single up into that online line as soon as it shows up. Sounds just remarkable. Edited by jammun - January 05 2012 at 20:04 |

I might have to get this album... I recently bought Ecailles, and it rocks my socks.

I'm really liking the album as a whole, but my one gripe with the album is a major one; there is virtually no change from what they have done before. It's very predictable if you have heard Ecailles or even Souvenirs. There are riffs here that sound plucked straight from the earlier two albums. Perhaps I'm being overcritical, but it's a bit irking that Neige isn't taking the band anywhere new.

I'll get it, it rocks. But they need some decent production, else they gonna wind up working' in a gas station.

Wha? That is the intent. Naw that's legit Conor. A good album will always be good, but I know if there's no stylistic change it usually can't get above a 4 star for me at max..it's just not quite as interesting. Liking what I hear though. |

What's wrong with the production... Brian, the only way I could have fully recommended Les Voyages is if it was better than Ecailles; that would be the only way it- or any 'sequel album' - could redeem their sequel-ness.

I've had this preordered since the EU release date, but from Canadian Amazon, so I won't get it till a bit into February. I don't mind the wait though, it's shipping with Leprous's Bilateral and Anathema's We're Here Because We're Here, both of which I've been meaning to get for a while.
Honestly, I wouldn't totally mind if I found the new album to be the same as Ecailles, whenever I listen to that album I always think that it would be nice if there was more! Absolutely love the atmosphere.

I listened to it on youtube not long ago and I though it was really good. I enjoy the enhanced dreaminess when compared to the previous album.
