Sicker than a cancer ward.

Not sure what i'm missing about this band - i don't see anything special.

I guess i'm dumb.

Don't say you're dumb. This band is nothing special at all. It's angsty chug nonsense and only an odd time signature away from Hatebreed. Sleepy

I'm just not able to put up with the vocals anymore.

I was hoping they would do something different and...well at least it's a bit different.
Just as boring as ever though!
Shug peaked in 1995 for me and have never come close to that since.

One riff for 7 minutes, occasional weird noise, mainly low tuned w**kery. WonderfulSleepy
I am glad the vocals are lowered at least. Still terrible, but they are lowered. That makes them tolerable...

Needless to say, my hope for this album is not exactly soaring but we'll see...maybe the album will be a departure and somehow goodLOL

Meshuggah does have that love or hate aspect to them.  With the album "Contradictions Collapse" I gave them a lot of respect.  It's like when Metallica sold out, this came along and took up the mantle for me.  I was a fan of the heaviest of the heavy metal through my teen years and beyond in the late 80's early 90's.  As a guitar player/musician who specialized in the experimental heavy progressive stuff when it wasn't cool to like it, these guys resonate with me.  Really like this song.  Granted I can't take a huge dose of them, but occasionally I fancy me some 'Shugga.  This sounds like an improvement to me.  Catch 33 and Obzen had some bright spots but don't compare to Chaosphere and Nothing.  Worth picking up the CD for me.
