No vote at this time as I've only heard Millions Now Living Will Never Die in
full. That album was recommended to me a while back. I'd heard of
Tortoise but never heard them until two people at PA recommended the
band to me, and I was seriously impressed. I do plan to get TNT next.
TNT
is great but I don't think the parts with 90's electronic breakbeats
& drum 'n ' bass has aged well. I guess maybe the more inventive,
playful and jazzier Standards would suit your preferences better. If you really enjoyed Millions, you'll need both eventually. I love their loose, calm, atmospheric and abstract debut as well.
Thanks for the advice. Will definitely look to get Standards next on the Tortoise list. And Zoviet, your description of It's All Around You sounds great for my tastes too.

I only have the first three. So far none of them have really engaged my enthusiasm that much, though they do sound good. I like "Millions" and "TNT" better than the debut. I'll pass on voting.

as this poll proves hahah...Millions and TNT are the twin peaks of the mighty Tortoise, not that Standards and the others are not as good, but these 2 albums really encapsulated everything they were about..............
Hmm, hard one between Millions and TNT; Standards is also great. I tend to listen to TNT more often though, particularly for the jazzier leanings, so that's where my vote goes.
