X-TG were Throbbing Gristle sans Genesis P-Orridge (ie  Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti with the late Peter Christopherson).

They released a two-album set called Desertshore/The Final Report. It could be viewed that the first album is a cover of Nico's Desertshore so does not qualify for evaluation and the second is a continuation of TG's "Annual Report" series, but this is new material (the music on X-TG's The Final Report is not the same as TGs. Third and Final Report) completed by Carter and Cosey after the death of Christopherson. Desertshore features guest vocals from Anthony (of Anthony and the Johnsons), Blixa Bargeld (of Einstürzende Neubauten), Sasha Grey (of aTelecine) and Marc Almond.

So... I guess the questions raised are:
  1. Do we treat X-TG as a different band and evaluate them accordingly (if they even qualify)?
  2. Do we just add Desertshore/The Final Report to the TG discography?
  3. Do we just regard it as an interesting curiocity and forget about it?
What?

These always get messy. I'd say add it to TG's discog due to the continuity between the Reports. Band name changed happen all the time, and there just needs to be a differentiating note in the album title.

Funny you should mention that Dean.
I reviewed Heathen a little while back and noticed the omission of Desertshore/Final Report(well Heathen was missing too...). Must've forgotten about it though, because I vividly remember wondering where exactly to put it.
I agree with Andy though, and as a longtime fan I also happen to think it would be sad to separate the 'Report' series from each other.

X-TG have also released an album called Faet Narok. X-TG is really considered a seperate entity from Throbbing Gristle.

The remaining members have made it clear that this is not a TG album:

I appreciate what Andy and David are saying about not separating the Reports, but as Sheavy says X-TG have also released 'Faet Narok':

Elements of this album are derived from recordings made by Sleazy in 2010 and audio explorations we pursued during the recording of the Desertshore 'mother album'... (throbbing-gristle.com)

That official TG site contains a link to a separate X-TG site:

X-TG was conceived by Chris Carter, Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson and Cosey Fanni Tutti as a vehicle to fulfil Throbbing Gristle committments.

And another thing, what do we do with future X-TG releases... do they all go under TG?

Apart from the 'Desertshore-The Final Report' two album project there are a number of other unreleased studio and live recordings that Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti intend to release during 2013-14.

Thoughts?

Okay, opinion seems split on this. Andy and David feel this should be added to the TG discography here, while I tend to agree with Sheavy that they are a separate entity that we could ask the PE Team to look at.

The PE team added TG, it should be their call, I think there are good arguments for all three options I presented. Since we have an impasse I don't think there is a right or wrong answer - whatever they decide is fine by me.
