I love that song "Atlas." Great video too (see below). My big question is: Both of their releases have come out on the Warp record label. (Brian Eno is also signed to Warp now, which has released his last 3 albums.) So why isn't Aphex Twin (i.e. Richard D. James) in PA? Or Boards of Canada or Autechre? The first great Warp Records comp, entitled "Artificial Intelligence," features pictures of the album covers of two bands: Pink Floyd and Kraftwerk, which tells you all you need to know about the Warp record label, its influences, and its key bands (Aphex, BoC, et al). Bjork's in PA; Radiohead's in PA - and well they should be. [On another note: Tori Amos is in PA?! I mean, WTF?!] If it wasn't for Warp and Aphex, Bjork and Radiohead as we know them wouldn't even exist. It's not like the Warp bands and other electronic acts such as the Future Sound of London and The Orb (whose Dr Alex Paterson has also released with Warp) started evolving towards prog. Rather, they *emerged* from prog, and have continued to be edgy and progressive. I hope PA opens up to more electronica in the future. I mean, Jarre and Vangelis and Tangerine Dream were great. But progressive electronica didn't end there. (Mild, gentle) rant over. Anyway, back to the topic. The video:

Somewhere between "great band" and "meh". I have both of their albums but haven't gotten a whole lot out of them yet. My last listen was to "Mirrored" and that one kind of hit the spot, but "Gloss Drop" has yet to excite me. I recognize that there's good musicians playing there (I loved John Stanier in Helmet), it just sounds like music on autopilot to me much of the time.
