The American band Lobate Scarp released their first album Time And Space in last December and they sure must be here.
I'm betting Crossover, but I may be wrong. You guys can check them out on the links: Bandcamp: http://lobatescarp.bandcamp.com/ Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/lobatescarp |

Haven't listened yet, but the description on their bandcamp page is either very impressive or extremely overblown!

From progressive rock influences like Genesis, Yes, and Phish, to the rock sensibilities of bands like Kansas, Muse, Faith No More and Styx, and a pop infusion of catchy vocals like Simple Minds, The Killers, The Police, Queen, and Foreigner; Lobate Scarp's unique Progressive Space-Opera Rock music will surely take you on a musical journey you won't forget... Somewhere between Pink Floyd, Queen, Yes, and Nine Inch Nails, Lobate Scarp's unique Progressive Space-Opera Rock music will surely take you on a musical journey you won't forget... (from bandcamp) Listened to the entire album twice now. Notwhithstanding the 15-minute ''Time and Space'' and other lengthy pieces, a lot of this sounds to me like melodic rock. Yep, Crossover I reckon.

"Lobate scarps are widely distributed over Mercury and consist of sinuous to arcuate scarps that transect preexisting plains and craters. They are most convincingly interpreted as thrust faults, indicating a period of global compression. The lobate scarps typically transect smooth plains materials (early Calorian age) on the floors of craters, but post-Caloris craters are superposed on them. These observations suggest that lobate-scarp formation was confined to a relatively narrow interval of time, beginning in the late pre-Tolstojan period and ending in the middle to late Calorian Period. In addition to scarps, wrinkle ridges occur in the smooth plains materials. These ridges probably were formed by local to regional surface compression caused by lithospheric loading by dense stacks of volcanic lavas, as suggested for those of the lunar maria." Yeah - I knew that!!!Over 50 musicians were involved in this progressive space-opera rock extravaganza. Guitars, Drums, Synths, Organs, Trumpets, Saxophone, Viola, Violin, Cello, Theremin, Glockenspiel, and a Latin singing choir were all recorded on this one. Peru Percussionist Alex Acuña (Weather Report) appears as a special guest percussionist and Rich Mouser (Spock’s Beard, Transatlantic, Tears For Fears) mixed and mastered the album. Biography (from facebook:https://www.facebook.com/lobatescarp): "The group Lobate Scarp presents prog rock that hits you right between the eyes. This band's rich melodies flow naturally like a stream, while the songs are broken down into movements much like a symphony" Lobate Scarp began introducing the Universe, (well, Los Angeles - but isn't that part of the Universe?) to progressive-funk-space-opera rock, on May 9, 2006. The band features amazing musicians ...from all over the genre map. Adam Sears, Lobate's head songwriter, vocalist, and keyboardist, previously performed with vocal-rock group Blind Man's Bluff out of Chicago, Illinois, his home city. Adam is also currently a vocalist/singer in the L.A. alt-rock band Xyzyx. Lobate's drummer, Dustin Prince, who is also a band member of First Circuit, studied with Tim Alexander from Primus and has played with band such as Cypheus Monk, 2=3, and Mudbunnies. On guitar and vocals is Nate "The Fish" Olmos, but you can just call him "The Fish". Andy Catt plays electric and upright bass as well as singing vocals. Andy, an aerial photographer, can also be seen around town playing with singer-songwriter Gilli Moon and his Live Karaoke band. Playing guitar during the four years of Lobate's existence was Hoyt Binder who recently released a prog-rock album with Donnie Vie of classic rock band Enuff Z' Nuff. Also playing with Lobate during their first 4 years was Adrienne Woods on electric cello and vocals. Adrienne has played with Kanye West, Josh Groban, 30 Seconds to Mars, Jonas Brothers and has performed on multiple occasions for shows such as American Idol, The X-Factor, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Both Hoyt and Adrienne play on 'Time and Space'. 'Time and Space', Lobate Scarp's first studio album, was released digitally on 12/12/12 and can be purchased from iTunes (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/time-and-space/id577713424?uo=4) and Bandcamp (http://lobatescarp.bandcamp.com/.), and other digital music retailers. The album took 5 years and over 50 musicians to make, including a 30+ person classical choir and guest percussionist Alex Acuña (Weather Report). The album was produced by Steven Leavitt and mixed and mastered by Rich Mouser (Spock's Beard, Transatlantic, Neal Morse). Space Illustrator David A. Hardy (Hawkwind) designed the cover. Check it out!
Although no Grammy's or MTV Music Awards have been thrown their way as yet, Lobate was nominated for Best Rock Band at the 2006 South Bay Music Awards. Adam was also nominated as Best Male Vocalist in the same year. "Lobate Scarp has a promising future in the prog rock market delivering music that brings back the days when songs had a message with lyrics that complemented, not dominated, the track. Indeed, Lobate Scarp's musical approach deserves industry support and interest." (Quotes from Bob Leggett, Music Connection Magazine Vol XXXI, No. 8) Band interests: Philosophy, Quantum Physics, Science-Fiction, Ghosts, Lizards, Snakes, Cats, Dogs, Hiking, Aerial Photography, Motorcycle Riding, Guitar Hero, Vintage Video Games, Mexican Food, Sushi, Doritos, Beer, Simpsons, Futurama, The Matrix, and Love. Influences: Yes, King Crimson, Faith No More, Seal, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, The Flaming Lips, Blur, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Metallica, Guns 'N' Roses, Pink Floyd, Spock's Beard, Dream Theatre, Knee Deep Shag, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Phish, Cake, Radiohead, They Might Be Giants, Rush, Queen, Styx, Asia, Duran Duran, Stephen Sondheim, Danny Elfman, John Williams, Ravel, Debussey, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, the Transformers' theme song (by Anne Bryant), and the energy-love field. http://www.lobatescarp.com/ http://lobatescarp.bandcamp.com/ https://www.facebook.com/lobatescarp http://soundcloud.com/lobatescarp http://myspace.com/lobatescarp Seems a decent enough proposal to me too! http://progfreak.com/Lobate-Scarp-156202.html?path=pa/recent.
