If you re-read my first post you'll see that these four are the ones which gained the most votes in my previous poll (April 2013) which listed 25 different US acts.  The choice was made by the voters, not by me.  And the reason I chose four rather than two or five or whatever is that these four collective had about fifty percent of the votes in the old poll.

As for the context of musical history, I doubt if Miles Davis gave a flying one about prog or his inclusion among such bands as we all love here. (his first thirty  albums were all released more than fifty years ago - before the likes of Genesis, Yes, Pink Floyd etc had even formed.)

Sorry to hijack this thread, but just the other night I was watching TMS and one of the guests was David Draiman, when asked by Trunk he articulated very well why Disturbed went on hiatus in 2012, I don't follow Disturbed music but his explanation was damn good, he comes across as a very good speaker.   Back to your regularly scheduled programming!
