Hello all,

The following was posted by Harald Grosskopf on the 30th March 2014:

"Another friend passed away too early.
MICHAEL "FAME" GUENTHER, bass player of AGITATION FREE.
He was found dead yesterday."

***************

I can't find any more details other than that at this stage. The way it's worded sounds worrying though.

Think I'll give `Malesh', `Second' and `At The Cliffs of River Rhine' a spin tonight.

R.I.P, and thank you Michael for some cherished music.

Very sad news indeed - his stellar bass work in the band is why I fell for AF in the first place, R.I.P. MG.

R.I.P. Michael. Agitation Free were one of the earliest German prog bands I learned of due to the Tangerine Dream connection via Chris Franke (former drummer) and Michael Hoenig (who replaced Peter Baumann in TD for a tour while Peter was off to Tibet, IIRC).

A shame to read I'll spin some AF tonight.

So sad to read this tonight, I had their 2nd lined up to play as it was. If I can encourage anyone who hasn't heard their Shibuya Nights live album from 2011 to please check it out. Michael Gunther played on that live in Japan concert which was some 35 years between concerts for them. By the way it sounds incredible, especially Gunter's upfront bass playing. RIP Michael.Unhappy

Is it an unusual stream of bad years or is it just that I have grown old?

Terrible news! The spirits of Krautrock are mourning he passing of one of their best bassists.

Thank you for the music, Fame!

Terrible news... I just listened to some Agitation Free this morning before reading this.  Now I must listen to some more. RIP Michael.

The masterful bassist that was needed to fill the rhythmic architecture of the most refined kraut band ever!

There's some cool pics of the legend, especially with bass in hand. Not too shabby at all.
Such an unexpected loss.
