I discovered Magellan and it's really fantastic. I wonder if exist some band that use an electronic drum like these guys in heavy/symphonic or hitech prog. No metal prog, cause don't like metal. Thx a lot, i know already Enchant and DeeExpus. What i love much more is that drum that has a plastic sound like the '80!

Dream theather copied their sound from the 1st album, and make it more heavy and extreme? It seems so

First two Magellan albums are excellent. Better than Dream Theater.

They remind me of Kansas.  Explorer's Club released 2 albums and were manned by Trent Gardner...however, can't say that I can make any recommendations based on the plastic sound of their drums.

Magellan were pretty unique, but if you want electronic drums of a good symphonic band i would go with Anderson, Howe, Wakeman, Bruford cd from 1989, but i am not sure if this sound is like "plastic drums", but it's quiet different from Magellan. I would have to look further to find anything similar to Magellan, because they were prog metal but i am sure someone else will find  a bit of similarity in the sound with a different genre then prog metal.

Only the first 2 u say? I don't know the last album from Magellan. Magellan isn't progmetal, just heavyprog in my opinion, i agree with LSDisease!

As rdtprog already said, Maggelan were a pretty unique prog act.
But I'd like to recommend Yes' Drama and Power Windows by Rush.

I prefer obscure bands, no so famous. Rush in this album is so pop/aorish, hihi

They have a real drummer, but you might like Mastermind.  Like Magellan they are a band of two brothers, and are from the same era.

^ I own the first Mastermind album. They were a 3 piece band with obvious Rush and ELP influences. I quite like that album.

Eloy used a drum machine for the album Ra that was recorded in the 80's. Its very heavy spacey stuff with loads of synths.

Ok then I'd like to recommend you Mirrors To Remind Ourselves Who We Are by North By Northwest. Although nothing to do with Magellan, maybe you'll like these beautiful & long, heavy prog tracks.
