Jan Akkerman is seriously so friggin' amazing.  His playing blows my mind.  I saw some more recent videos of him playing (within the last 10 years) and he hasn't lost one bit of his technique.  I would rather see him come play the States than Focus, in all honesty.

agree calm^^^^^Jan is great---saw some of those vids---just never heard the reason why Jan and Focus parted ways so completely---

Blimey they're playing in a village just down the road from me! Will have to go to that. It's a shame Jan Akkerman won't return to Focus, he's my favourite guitarist along with Steve Howe. The Focus album van Leer and Akkerman did together in the mid-80s is really good, apart from the horrible electronic percussion. I think Akkerman accused Thijs van Leer of smuggling drugs when they were touring in the 70s, van Leer responded by taking legal action and basically they now can't stand each other and won't consider a reunion.

^ Thanks for the info Cactus---didn't know that but sorta figured it had to be something big---think there is also a big reason Vangelis can't stand Jon Anderson and won't work with him---something unforgivable happens.

Honestly can't believe they are playing Reeth!! I too wish Jan Akkerman would reunite with Focus. Still, I can not wait to see Thijs and Pierre.

They are playing 5 places I've never heard of including Reeth. They used to play Swindon but no longer it would seem ( and that includes a lot of other bands and artists). The nearest venue for me is Devizes but I don't know if I will go.
