Are you sure they are Christians?

Completely sure.  Do they gave you reason to believe otherwise?

Why do they need to be Christians?  How about some Jewish prog-metal, Hindu prog-metal, or my personal favorite Satanic prog-metal.

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Prog4you: Not trying to get political on you. Is the group somewhat Christian?

Mike: Yes it is.

Gary: You could say that.

Prog4you: Christian progressive?

Mike: I wouldn’t go that far, as to putting a label on it. We don’t label ourselves as a Christian progressive rock band or anything like that. I think you could find our belief within the lyrics of the music without having to label ourselves.

Opeth's lyrics have some subtle christian messages in them, although the band says they have no religious affiliation.

Glass Hammer could also be called Christian Prog.

But IMO the best Christian Prog is:

Neal Morse.

Proto-Kaw's Lyrics can be considered Christian although Kerry Livgren maybe the only practicing member but he writes the songs. here is an example:

Theophany
(Livgren)
© 2004 Kerygmatic Music

Take a moment to realize what you're doing here
Are you filled with fear
By the thought of opening your soul?
Do you feel the presence of an enduring peace
And an inner love
Let it be the one who's voice you hear

Joy and sorrows, all tomorrow's, harmony
Dreams and visions, our decisions, fill the void

The beginning and the end are both beyond
The thoughts you send
Everything that is was meant to be
You are the one made manifest till all creations
Laid to rest
We must live according to the plan

Don't refuse, you'll only lose, you'll lose it in the end
Give yourself, fullfilling purpose, grow with time

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion - but personally I don't understand how anyone can not like this album at all. No matter what you think about Christianity, the album contains such great music and musicianship that everyone should find at least some part which he likes.

Proto-Kaw is a good recommendation (Before Became After, anyway).  Kansas's most recent studio album, Somewhere to Elsewhere (also written by Kerry Livgren), also has some Christian lyrics.
And it might as well be raining, 'cause the sunlight hurts his eyes,
And his ears will never hear the children's cries

The best rock recording, prog or otherwise, where Christianity and faith, etc., is concerned, is Kerry Livgren's first solo album, Seeds Of Change!

Have to find it on Ebay. Sony was going to remaster this year with an additon of a live version of Mask of the great Deceiver performed by Kansas 1980. Sony backed out because of a 10 million dollar settlement with the State of NY over payola issues. Two for the Show by Kansas also is postponed till next year.

No TFTS this year? Awful. I've been waiting for that one (well, we all have). A remaster of SoC? I have to say, I like the way it sounds, now. Sometimes "remastering" doesn't really improve the overall sound. I certainly don't need any more high end on it. That's what my equalizer's for. A live version of "Mask" with Walsh? Interesting. Gotta love RJD, tho.

They need to stop remastering Kansas recordings!  I don't have enough money as it is!

I don't like Christian music in any form. The message is just to positive and sappy and I am too jaded and cynical. Gdub and Christian music don't mix.

Give me Gothic prog and depressing suicidal angst ridden music anyday over Christian muzac.
