King Crimson's "Fracture" deserves mention.

Rush - La Villa Strangiato
Take me down, to the underground
Won't you take me down, to the underground
Why oh why, there is no light
And if I can't sleep, can you hold my life

Also, "Lila's Dance" by Mahavishnu Orchestra

Added!

I really can't believe that out of 286 listed instrumentals and 1,024 votes that Camel have 13 songs in the top 55! What a testament to their musical brilliance.

I really like Intronaut's The Reptilian Brain.
When I hear every instrumental ever I'll let you know which is the best, though. Thumbs Up

Calling "The Great Gig in the Sky" an "instrumental" is a joke. Just because the vocals don't sing any lyrics does not make a musical piece an instrumental.
