Arggh, just lost some really long responses when my browser crashed.
Jean, yep, that The Bridge is the one I included in the options. Great show.
Micky, yep Sex House is a venerable Masterpiece Theatre (more like master piece of a**) classic which features a bevy of bodacious British luminaries of the stage and screen in a loosely based, and I do mean loose, scintillating and titillating adaptation of a long thought lost work of Jane Austen (Sex and Sexuality). "Sybian in the hoooouuuuse" (Mr. Gotwood). See youtube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL622682EF88B3C077 It's made by the venerable The Onion. I added Dead Set, by the way, which really is British, and was a terrible omission as I love that zombie miniseries take on Big Brother. It was created by Charlie Brooker of Black Mirror (he also worked on Nathan Barley and Brass Eye). Most recently I've finished watching The 4400, still watching Zombie Nation, and I've finally started on Game of Thrones. Edited by Logan - August 09 2016 at 13:04 |

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

It's great to finally see a vote for Les Revenants (superb series). I actually liked season 2 a lot. Although it didn't hook me as fast as the first, it still kept me intrigued. I particularly like the Pierre story arc in it, and without spoilers, I'll just say that what happens with Serge (one of the most interesting characters to me from the show) I find powerful.
I hope one day you are in the mood to watch it all. I would love a series/season 3 that acts as a prequel (focuses more on the early events surrounding the dam breaking etc.).
Great to see you Jon, it's been a while. I have watched a few episodes of Black Books (saw it when it was new and watched another in recent months). I wasn't hooked, but I will get back down to it (especially as Netflix Canada has it -- something to watch with the wife -- she loved the IT Crowd. I've watched some clips of Snuff Box (big Matt Berry fan), and one episode of the Might Boosh and enjoyed them, will watch more. There is a stable of actors in comedies that I like the projects of that have worked on many shows together, and eventually I'll watch them all. ------------------------------------------------- Jean: That looks good. Video not working for me, but the description looks like it might appeal to the Utopia fan in me. ------------------------------------------------- Surprised not to see any votes for Misfits, by the way. I thought that was a popular show. Here's a trailer for Real Humans, which I found superb, but doesn't seem to get much attention. It was remade as Humans (a UK/ US co-production). I was excited when I heard of it since it has Neil Maskell who plays Raison Boy in Utopia (see my avatar), but then read that it was a remake, and so watched the original instead. I tried Humans afterwards, but it didn't have the appeal of Real Humans to me. Les Revenants was also remade as The Returned (a US production) and what I saw of the remake was not nearly so good as the original, but then remakes rarely are. And Utopia was set to be remade in the US, but the project was dropped. The It Crowd was also set to be remade in the US, and here's the pilot -- it didn't work out: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xmjpk4_the-it-crowd-us-pilot_fun Very similar, except it's not really funny. There have been talks to try again to remake it. Edited by Logan - June 27 2016 at 11:54 |

I cast a vote for Les Revenants, but only the first season, which was incredible. What I saw of season two really bored me.

In the 70s there were two German SF series on TV, "Alpha Alpha" and "Das blaue Palais" ("The Blue Palais"). Both were kind of precursors to "The X Files". Here the first episode of "Alpha Alpha", unfortunately in German:
The series is about an organization that tries to stop the self-destructive tendencies of the human race (pollution, arms race, new dangerous inventions etc.). The first episode is about the search for an alpha agent. Potential alpha agents are very rare, and the hero turns out to be one. |

I'd recommend Mighty Boosh. You'll recognize some of the cast (and some of the oddball humor, maybe) from Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. Same goes for Snuff Box, if you've not seen that show. Both are truly bizarre comedy from the UK. I'm assuming you've watched Black Books, otherwise it's a definite recommendation as well.
Also, forgot to note; I voted for IT Crowd. Edited by SaltyJon - June 27 2016 at 01:38 |

By the way, if other Canadians look for these shows on Netflix Canada, only Misfits and The IT Crowd are covered (though missing special of the IT Crowd). It does have series/season one of Les Revenants, but not series two. Les Revenants is a brilliant show, by the way, and I'm stunned that it has no votes (not even from our Francophones or Mogwai fans).
Although one can find such stuff on the internet, and most of the sci-fi ones were shown on Space Canada, I wish I had a service that provided more fare from around the world. I've been disappointed with Netflix Canada as I've discovered almost nothing new to me of interest there (and it has far fewer titles than Netflix US). I know that it can be a licensing nightmare, and as one can see by the number of votes, my tastes on the whole are probably not popular enough to justify the expense. And there are very few Korean/ Japanese etc. dramas for my wife to watch, which is her thing. Edited by Logan - June 17 2016 at 14:15 |

^Fargo, that's another I keep meaning to watch (it's a fave of my brother who recommended Carnivale). Outsiders sounds like something I'd like. Since you like Veep, I'm somewhat surprised you haven't heard of the Thick of It. It's by the same creator and supposed to be very similar (The Thick of It came first). I only heard about Veep because I like The Thick of It, but then I like to research shows I'm watching.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/9868735/Chris-Addison-on-Veep-the-American-cousin-of-The-Thick-of-It.html
I watched Nathan Barley, and some others like Toast of London thanks to recommendations in this forum. And Black mirror before that. Nathan Barley was difficult to watch, but an excellent show. I knew of it because I was a fan of works by Charlie Brooker and Chris Morris, as well as the actor Julian Barratt..., but the recommendation got me down to watching it. It should be better known, I would have thought, considering who was involved with it, but I shouldnt expect that.
Carnivale has been on my list for ages, but somehow I never got down to it.. My brother told me to watch it years ago one of his visits from Australia. I know it's something I'll like. Mr. Selfridge looks like something good to watch with my wife (since we finished IT Crowd). I showed her an episode of Inside No. 9 the other day, which she really liked (a very sad one called The 12 Days of Christine). I think the It Crowd is the first British show other than Mr. Bean, Absolutely Fabulous, and science and nature documentaries that she enjoyed. Ah well, her thing is Korean drama. For some cut-throat action, you could try Utopia, though probably it's too cut throat, dark and intense (I tried showing it a friend who could not stomach it and I've become more sensitized to violence too). Still, wish they had renewed it for a series 3: Psychoville, and Misfits, both black comedies mix dark and intense with comedy, but not family viewing. Edited by Logan - June 17 2016 at 13:31 |

I have both seasons of Carnivale on DVD and wanted it to go on for at least a couple of more seasons. I have a large collection of TV shows on DVD (both network and cable) but I've never heard of any shows in this poll. I am following several shows right now and just finished season one of "Outsiders" with David Morse. It's about mountain people and city people in rural Kentucky. Some others are The Last Ship, Black List, The Americans (KGB sleeper agents), Veep (hilarious), Ray Donovan and of course Fargo.

It only lasted two seasons, but Carnivale was also a quirky period piece.
We're watching Mr. Selfridge right now. It's a little slower pace and not as dark or intense as what I would prefer, I was hoping for a little more cut throat business action but it seems more of a lite family romance sort of thing. But gotta keep the Mrs. happy. |

The Thick of It is fantastic, but of course I love all four of those.
Incidentally, for those that caught Darkplace, but missed Man to Man With Dean Learner: The Darkplace Horrificata Illuminata etc. are also entertaining. And cause I feel like it, songs of Toast of London: EDIT: by the way, has anyone here watched the Real Humans remake Humans? I started on it, but I'm not usually a fan of remakes. Guy: I have watched several episodes of Black Books. I caught it when it was quite new and airing on some TV station I got (PBS, Showcase Canada, Bravo, or A&E probably). I never finished watching the series. I didn't really get into it at the time, but I think that's because I didn't regularly catch it. I did watch the first episode recently. I like Bill Bailey a lot.
JD: Looks good, I have particularly wanted to watch Penny Dreadful (been recommended to me before, but I forgot about it). Lots to see. Doug: Preacher looks good. ----------------------------------------------------- Love just about anything with surreal qualities. Fargo is one I've been meaning to get down to, and some others I have liked are Carnivale and The Riches. Got some big projects to work on lined up, have to buckle down, so probably be too busy with work to do much viewing in the near future (certainly can't do marathoning for a while).
Thanks, Greg. I loved the Friendly Giant. I'd forgotten about the Uncle Bobby show -- watching a clip on youtube, it's quite bizarre. I liked Mr. Dressup very much, but at the same time it creeped me out a bit as a kid. NBC's The Banana Splits was a fave show of mine as a child, and also the children's show Rainbow from the UK. This segment they made was not intended to be televised, as it would be very inappropriate for children: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgbcQIT7BMc Edited by Logan - May 27 2016 at 08:34 |

Oh, that was a great episode! Greg, I remember all the 60s/70s Canadian kid's shows I'd pick up in the burbs of Detroit across the river from Channel 9 in Windsor (back when I was young it was CKLW) and another in Chatham (CICO? CFTO?). My favorite was The Friendly Giant, but there was also Mr. Dressup and The Uncle Bobby Show (I think Uncle Bobby was drunk most of the time).
