By the mid-70's, Emerson, Lake & Palmer and the term "Symphonic rock" were nearly synonyms. Here are my personal top five songs by ELP and although it hasn't been an easy choice - almost impossible actually - I'll give my vote to "Take a Pebble". Simply because this year is the fiftieth anniversary of the release of their magnificent debut album. Which song you prefer?

It's always been Trilogy for me. Close second goes to Take a Pebble.

The only I do not care much for is Living Sin. All the others are great songs. My vote went to Karn Evil 9 Movement 3 - the finale of their greatest masterpiece. It's perfect!

KE9 3rd Impression, although the live versions (Cal Jam and Anaheim 1974 especially) mostly kick the arse out the slightly tepid studio version.

Tough call between Pebble and Trilogy. It would be even tougher if there was the full Enigma suite rather than just part one. That was actually my formal introduction to the band. I'll go Pebble. If not just because of the Back quote during the ostinato piano solo, a piece that I played many moons ago for my piano lessons. But also because it's just a great journey.

Endless Enigma does the trick for me, but Karn Evil 9/3 works as well.

Pebble seems to be running away with this, which I didn't expect looking at the comments.
