Silver? Gold? Platinum? Etc.?

Bars, coins, jewelry, etc.?

Discuss!

Sterling silver for rings! (See my avatar for some examples.)  I don't like any other metal, including platinum and gold (even white gold) regarding rings.

I also like pendants, but they can be made of any materials as long as they don't touch my skin.

Awesome! I LOVE silver. Bars, coins, rings, etc.! 99.999 all the way!

If I protected my rings like my eyes, I might consider 99.99% of silver rings. But, I occasionally drop my rings on the ground and they have contacts with hard and sharp surfaces. So 92.5% of silver rings are better for me.

I honestly meant 999.99+ for silver, and especially gold!

The only gold I own is around my neck, and it's 14K.

I adore sapphires, gold, and platinum. As a stock trader- with over 20 years of experience- I know the stock market outperforms precocious metals. That said, gold, silver, and platinum are sexier than electronic stock trades.

As with everything else...timing is crucial.  If you bought $407 gold in March 2000, you'd be in the Catbird's seat. If you purchased gold in February 1980, you'd still be under water since the price was $2,298. Unless you know that you know that you know...don't put all your golden eggs in one basket. I would not allocate more than 15% of investments to precious metals. However, if you adore gold and platinum for beauty... go nuts!

Maybe they are, but do not want to reveal that about themselves publicly Wink

No. I'm not into that. Owning such objects just means that you have to guard them all the time, and generally I don't spend much money on things other than music and food.

I collected coins as a kid. I still do when I come across something interesting but no longer go out of my way. I still have my collection including some silver coins but never any gold coins.

I don't know if it counts, but I do own some original paintings by different modern artists post-1945 (abstract, cubism etc.). I didn't buy them, but they have belonged to family members who either passed away or didn't have enough space for them anymore. I have no idea what they are worth, but I really don't care. They are on my wall because I like them.
