Topic: System of a Down Posted: January 14 2006 at 16:33 |
I love them. One of my favorite modern bands. I own Mezmerize and Hypnotize and have heard all their other ones (except their first one, which is on hold for me at my library right now). Hypnotize is my favorite. My least favorite is Toxicity, but there's still a few good songs on it. The one thing I'm annoyed with is how all of their albums are around 40 minutes (half of what they could have put on there).

I think they are "pop" in their own unique way
I like all their works, I am not the biggest fan though

Their self titled album is still the best. Then Toxicity. While I like there new ones, and it is an interesting change, I just don't think they're as good as the classics.
Although I am glad I DO enjoy they're new stuff, they're getting really popular and I was hoping they don't become a sellout pop band. Although some would say they have......

I find System of a Down rather enjoyable. They are very creative too. I love the two new albums; there is a lot of stuff on there that is absolutely nuts, but I mean that in a good way.

I enjoy some of the new stuff almost as much as the old (i.e. I like "Question!" quite a bit, because of it's 5/4 rhythym, and the way they vary their dynamics.
Just one question...
How many System Of A Down threads does there have to be anyway? It seems as if there's a new one every week.

I like all of System's releases.
Maybe they use a little bit too much of "chugga-chugga" on their guitar
licks, but they are definitely musically intelligent and experimental.
Which is a lot of fun.

The only song of System of a down I like a bit is that one with the
text "banana banana terracotta banana banana banana terracota terracota
pie" or something like that.

It's too stupid to be good, but not stupid enough to be considered a joke.
I mean, c'mon. Why the z's? How can you take yourself serious if you do that?

They are fun. Not that deep, but fun. I liked their debut album the most.

Well, I have enjoyed my first SOAD album, Mezmerize, so much that I made an online order for Toxicity yesterday... Can't wait!

I definitely noted a DK influence, especially on the track "Stealing Society"
The 2 new albums are great and IMO they blow Toxicity out of the water. however, for me I think they will never top their self-titled debut album. It's brilliant.

Their punk influences are obvious. I like how they mix the punk attitude with technical playing.

I don't care for Mezmerise and Hypnotize, but their other discs or pretty sweet, especially their self-titled debut (which is their best I think).
