  1. Are you asking what Progressive rock is? If so that is a difficult question as you wont be able to get a group of people together that agree exactly on what is prog, or more specifically on who is and who isnt. Personally, prog is rock played by technically proficiant musicians (though not all the time) with pretentions to classical, jazz, folk and blues mainly (though other styles get added as well). One thing I find in commen with most prog bands of any sub genre is that they FEEL prog, you can here the mix of rock and jazz and/or whatever else is in there. Others may have a different idea though.
  2. Apart from the above characteristics (technicall proficiancy and mixing of multiple styles with rock) prog bands are about the only ones that make epics (15 min+), lyricle themes are almost always a long way from the stuff in pop and are usually meaningfull, or at least sound as if they mean something.
  3. This is down to the indavidual.
Spending more than I should on Prog since 2005

I have been wondering about this question...

  1. What is the true meaning of progressive rock?
  2. What made it stands out from other type of music?
  3. What sort of music are consider progressive and what sort are not?
Thanks for your reply =)
