A great band playing in the sky today: Moerlen on drums, Dean on sax, Barrett on guitar & vocals, Boz on bass & vocals. Great singer, great bassist. Bon voyage, Boz.

^^ like above, for some time Islands had been my fave King Crimson piece along with Lizard (later I learnt to appreciate Court more and more...)
RIP
btw, does anyone know it was Fripp who taught Boz to play bass?? very interesting. Though I have tendency to take everything on the internet with a pinch of salt; this is proven by two sources: AMG and wikipedia http://www.answers.com/Boz%20Burrell also see wikipedia entry for King Crimson: http://www.answers.com/topic/king-crimson#Wikipedia
(I haven't heard Bad Company, btw) Edited by Bilek - September 29 2006 at 10:02 |

Listen to Turkish psych/prog; you won't regret:
Baris Manco,Erkin Koray,Cem Karaca,Mogollar,3 Hürel,Selda,Edip Akbayram,Fikret Kizilok,Ersen (and Dadaslar) (but stick with the '70's, and 'early 80's!) |

![]() I guess we're coming on that time, eh folks? Within a decade or two, many greats will pass on.
![]() I always thought Islands was underrated by many people. It's a very mellow, beautiful album.

That's sad. He was the second best KC-singer IMHO. A unique and very english singing-style, and it suited "Islands" perfectly.

Well I love the 70's albuns by KC, but I need to say that 'Islands' is the only one I dislike... Even 'Lizard' an album with an absent guitar (and I love this instrument) is a great work for me, but 'Islands'...
![]() But, I'm really sad, because I like BAD COMPANY very much, and have all the Boz albuns with them.
Rest in peace Boz... You made a good job with these great bands...

I listened to 'Islands' earlier this weekend. Bad Company's debut will follow later on.

Some of his highlights as a KC member is his solid performance in tracks such as 'The Letters' and 'Cirkus', as registered in the official bootlegs that were released by DGM in the early 2000's. He should have been the lead singer in the "Lizard" album. I never got to listen to a live rendition of the beautiful, eerie 'Islands' ballad, but there he reveals his softer side as a vocalist, something unusual for an Englishman who had a deep kick for wild, raw American R'n'B.
Kind regards.

Every individuals death is a tragedy, but I never respected his contribution to KING CRIMSON. I guess he fitted better in the other bands he was into. I'm still sorry to hear this news, and I'm sorry for his family and his friends. |

Icon, your question of why? You are wise to like prog at such a young age. But with all youth, the idea of mortality hasn't really set in yet. As you age, this sad reality of life will sink in. People get old, sick and eventually the body wears out and we die (duh! ![]() ![]() ![]() The old sage- Dennis (52 years young) Edited by Dennis - September 23 2006 at 12:06 |
