Holy Sh-t, there is a stab from the past. Silver apples. Had one of their albums, maybe the only one they did. It had a song on it I think was called "Radio". The chorus was "Innocent listener, don't you know, the flame is it's own reflection". VERY cool song from a very unique duo. Thanks for jogging my memory.

to matty : you are right about pink floyd (I said I'm not sure) and about moody blues (every good boy deserves favour is also a good album) but I am sure that lizard is from 1971 (on 1970 they did in the wake and in 1972 they made islands).

Omri: Lizard is from 1970 (I think...), Floyd's 1971 album is Meddle, and Moodies' is Every Good Boy Deserves Favour. (AHM and Question Of Balance: 1970)
68: In Search of a Lost Chord - Moody Blues
69: In the Court of The Crimson King; To Our Children's... - MB
70: H To He... - VDGG (followed by Yes Album & Trespass)
71: Pawn Hearts - VDGG (followed by Nursery Cryme, BarclayJH's Once Again, MB's EGBDF)
72: CTTE - Yes; Thick as a Brick - Jethro Tull
73: Selling England by the Pound; Silent Corner... - P. Hammill
74: hmmm... ok, The Lamb (followed by Mirage)
75: Minstrel in the Gallery -JT; Wish You Were Here - PF
76: Tales of... - AP Project; Moonmadness - Camel
77: Novella - Renaissance; Going For the One - Yes
78: Cyclone - T Dream; Raindances - Camel
79: Stormwatch - Jethro Tull; Force Majeure - Tangerine Dream
80: III - Peter Gabriel; Drama - Yes; Never For Ever - Kate Bush)
81: Nude - Camel (not a good year, obviously)
82: The Dreaming - Kate Bush; Love Over Gold - Dire Straits (I'm serious!)
These lists are difficult to make in a short time! (Easier to think of one year at a time.)

This is a strange idea. let's just think of 1971 and see how dificult it is :
king crimson - lizard . a briliant album, one of their best.
genesys - nursery cryme . less powerful than foxtrot, selling ... or the lamb but still excelent.
jethro tull - aqualung. a masterpiece.
VDGG - pawn hearts. a masterpiece.
led zeppelin - IV. great album.
pink floyd - I'm not sure if it's atom heart mother or meddles. anyway a good candidate.
ELP - tarkus . one of my favorites.
I think moody blues did question of balance in 1971 too and it's another great album.
So this is only one year (and you asked for 10). atleast do it one at a time !
if you force me to choose I'll take lizard but this is a close match.
