The two songs from two prog dinosaurs feature memorable ferocious riff and based upon a rocky sax sound. Both of them remind me of monumental 21st Century Schizoid Man in terms of structure and general sound. Which one do u prefer?

Edited. As a forum newbie, I seem not to have rights to create poll yet. Btw, when do I get this opportunity?)

I believe you have to make a minimum number of posts before you can make polls. I forget what the number is now but I'm sure someone will pop in here and enlighten us soon.

It's Killer. Pictures of a City was part of a miss-mash of songs representing a rather soft sophomore effort by the Crimsos. It reflects that, unfortunately.

They are both killer tracks - but only one of them features a sinister organ solo that blows me away. Death in the sea, death in the sea, somebody please come and help me, come and help me....

Good point, the organ solo rly makes 'Killer' stand out in this contest. Pictures' middle section is no slouch either though.

Killer is written a lot better imo.
Wake of Poseidon is one of KC's weakest albums. Though Pictures of A City is one of the better songs - it just still ca't keep up with a VdGG staple.

Well, I don't actually think "Poseidon" is a weak album, it just got completely overshadowed by ITCOTCK the way Magical Mystery Tour being in shadow of Sgt Pepper's. And what do u think, Killer to 21st Century schizoid man?)

Well this is coming from someone who thinks In the Court is, again, one of their weakest in their classic era.........................
The song 21st Schiziod is fantastic - no doubt though. I may honestly choose Killer over it though still, just because Killer is so damn catchy and the "head" melody is just fantastic. The jam in 21st is top notch, but i've grown to wish it was a bit shorter. That's why Killer is great it has a greater balance of instrumental breaks and Hammill's godliness.

Killer, easily. Pictures of a City always seemed like a failed attempt at repeating the formula of Schizoid Man which didn't achieve the same greatness.

There are times that I prefer Poseidon to Court. They are both outstanding albums. The Giles brothers make a dynamic rhythmic combo, even on Cheerful Insanity......

Wow. Second favourite song from both artists. POAC is a clear winner though. Much better than Schizoid imo.

Good choice. But I actually tend to think, that Epitaph>Starless and Lost>Man-erg.

Killer, but if it was up against ...Schizoid Man it would be the Fripp victory. Hand down. And the thing was, yesterday "Killer" popped into my head out of the blue. I haven't had moments like that for "Pictures of a City" as I usually tell my brain to play me snippets of other, better King Crimson pieces!

It's inarguable, that King Crimson is much better band overall, but out of these two songs, i think Killer does have a slight edge over Pictures

I'll have to pull out that VDGG album and play the track on the way to the office....but I'm betting I'll still pick KC.
ok....listened to them both again on the way to work.....still going with KC. I like the melody and structure better on the KC track......the VDGG track is pretty damn good : if only they could have found a decent singer.

Well, initially I couldn't stand Hammill's singing style either, but it has actually grew on me and now his voice strikes me as one of the most emotional and beautiful in prog-rock, song "Lost" being the best example. Doesn't mean of course, you will guaranteedly like him, tastes differ after all - I don't like Jon Anderson and Geddy Lee.
