Couldn't find any mention on PA about this programme that's on BBC Radio 2 tonight so thought I'd post it. First of a four part series about Prog Rock in the 1970s featuring an interview with Bill Bruford in part one. I'm not quite sure where Perry Como comes in  :Prog Rock With Charles Hazlewood Ep 1/4 Monday 11 May 10.00pm-11.00pm BBC RADIO 2 In this four-part series, orchestra conductor Charles Hazlewood explores the progressive rock music of the 1970s. In this opening episode, he’ll be focusing on drums and percussion, but kicks things off by chronicling the background of prog rock tracing its origins in the popular music of the 1950s and 1960s. With the emphasis on percussion, Charles talks to one of rock’s most accomplished drummers and percussionists, Bill Bruford, who’s played with the rock bands Yes, King Crimson, UK and Genesis, as well as his own groups Bruford and Earthworks. He discusses some of the technical details of his craft and together they draw parallels between rock and classical music, noting some of the ways that 1970s prog sound was influenced by classical music. Expect to hear tracks by the likes of Pink Floyd; Emerson, Lake And Palmer; Jethro Tull, The Toys, B Bumble And The Stingers; and Perry Como. ------------- "And now...on the drums...Mick Underwooooooooood!!!"
