I've tried, tried, tried, tried to like Space Shanty. It just doesn't strike me like the other Canterbury albums. OTOH, Tago Mago one of the greatest albums ever made in the history of rock music. Not even close

Tago Mago, easily, but Space Shanty is still a Canterbury classic.

Pretty much same here.

Space Shanty is one album I just don't get its massive praise.

Space Shanty for me. I'm afraid Can is not my cup of tea. I don't know what's so great about these lengthy sequences of monotonous rhythms and random noises.

I didn't like very much that Can, but it was before I buy the Lp. Listening to the each side separately  and taking your time to do it is a real pleasure. A few months ago, I came back to vinyl. What to say ? Today I can spend a whole week listening to only one album. I'm sixteen again.

Augm is the only song I can get into from Tago Mago, the rest is little more than random noise to me, but I love Space Shanty, one of Prog's great one-offs.

Tough call, love both. Went with Tago Mago...

Voted for Tago Mago. Oddly it's far from my favourite Can album but we Can fans are an odd bunch. I think it is a tad less dated than Khan. Make sure you get the remaster not the old CD btw if you do fork out for it.

I somehow can't find out how to vote in polls, it always says "You can not vote in this poll", otherwise I'd vote for Tago Mago...
Anyway, as Can fans may gather here, can anybody tell me why on earth Irmin Schmidt is not on Progarchives?

He was never suggested.

Tago Mago is one of the best musical things I've ever listened to.

Space Shanty is merely "good" so yeah.
