What is your favorite Dream Theater song from Images and Words? Mine would personally have to be Metropolis Part 1 or Learning to Live...it's so hard!!!!!!!!

It was a tough decision!
What gave Metropolis the edge over Learning to Live? Both are really fantastic songs. Labrie with that F# though on Learning to Live.

Pull Me Under, it's easy to understand why it was really popular.

Not sure... it's rather difficult for me to choose between Metropolis, Learning to Live, and Pull me Under itself.

Oh crud.... :(

And yeah, it's hard to choose from those two.
I don't have a connection to Pull Me Under. Actually, PMU is not even on my top 50. I just dislike it so much....it might as well be my least favorite on the album.

Yeah, I understand that many of the progger fans of the band may not be so fond of Pull me Under, but it is still a song I really enjoy. I still remember buying this album first of them all, and listening to this song for the first time... it was really cool, and it still is for me.

That's great! May I then, have your opinion on other songs of this album? I'm interested to know your opinion of Metropolis Part 1, Learning to Live, and Wait for Sleep.

I don't know what those two blank spaces in the poll are supposed to be, but there are two songs from the I & W sessions that never made it on the album. First one is a ballad called To Live Forever. It was recorded in 1991 and latter even re-worked in 1994 (never made it on Awake LOL). The 1994 version is better than the first one IMO. The second one is a song called Don't Walk Past Me, and this one is a really great song. It was on one of those fan club releases in the end (Cleaning Out the Closet - 1999).

I think the blank spaces were for people like Micky. LOL

I really love those three songs. Metropolis was perhaps the one that took me the longest to warm up to, but now I believe it is actually Dream Theater's signature songs... at least as far as the prog fans are concerned... for more metal fans or whatever, it would still have to be Pull me Under (at least that's my impression). Wait for Sleep has one of those magical melodies from Kevin Moore (at least I understand that one is his baby), though I wish it was longer; this is perhaps one of the few non-metal DT songs that I truly love (in general I believe they were not very good at doing non-metal songs). And Learning to Live is also wonderful all along... and that wait for sleep reference is really great too (so that I don't miss Wait for Sleep being so short).
