Subject: Three-word band names

I'm purposely not including bandnames with "the", "and", "of", "or", etc.
In the case of Alan Parsons Project I omitted the "the", because they are referred to as APP.

Also not included are bandnames including names of bandmembers. Bandnames with the word 'band' in it, are also not included. As for the Alan Parsons Project, I decided to include it, because it's rare to use the word 'project', whereas 'band' is used very, very much. Furthermore the bandname is not a sum of bandmembers but uses only one name. Manfred Mann's Earth Band would be included, if it weren't four words.

Also I only added prog or prog-related bands, so New Model Army and Creedence Clearwater Revival etc. are not in the list.

All in all, it's not big list. If I forgot some bandnames, please leave it in comments.

At this point in time it's Samla Mammas Manna, later today it might very well be Ash Ra Tempel or Moving Gelatine Plates - three amazing bands I love by bits and have a special relationship with. Now that I'm writing, I am not even sure if SMM was the right choice - it changes that often. Love them!

damn that is rough...

BOC or ELO. Completely different... yet same level of love musically.

giving it to ELO.. nostalgia perhaps..but they were the band that hooked me into prog I suppose even if I didn't know or care what it was at the time.

Premiata no doubt, by light years

APP has Tales and in lesser  level I Robot & Pyramid

PFM has at least 4 masterpieces

- Storia di un Minuto
- Per un Amico
- La Isola di Niente
- AD 2010 - La Buona Novella

Amazing band.

Those are my favourites of these too. I went with Ash Ra Tempel which I like an awful lot (though my favourite apt one in Krautrock would be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1L-V9xdlQGo" rel="nofollow - Brave New World ).

If prepositions in names count, then not on the list: News From Babel and Picchio Dal Pozzo would make my list. Etron Fou Leloublan is another that would make my list.

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

for me it's a toss up between APP, BJH and BOC, but I'll go with BJH who ruled the 1970s!

Blue Oyster Cult, which I also think is one of the cooler names on the list.

For many years, it would have been

1 BJH
2 ELO
3 APP
4 PFM

with the rest nowhere in sight.

But in the last few years a new kid has emerged on the block, making utterly amazing music. BBT gets my vote.

Blue Oyster Cult. Great name, great albums, great performances, great songs and the most consistent non bluesy guitar solos ever. Ok much could be said for many of the others (APP, ELO, PFM) but BOC are nicely twisted in a way I have liked for a long, long time. Sound good when sober (me) and otherwise (... again...)Wink

BBT, just a hair ahead of BJH.
Although they do swap positions from time to time.

My initial reaction is PFM.  However, since I don’t see any votes for Liquid Tension Experiment, I cast my vote for LTE.

On Your Feet or on Your Knees...  Here they are, the amazing

Blue Öyster Cult !

This must be the first time I almost TOTALLY agree with anyone really. You nailed it, uduwudu. Congrats.

In my book Top 3 double live albums of all time.

I´d prefer Banco del Mutuo Soccorso in the Italian scene.

Barclay James Harvest WITH Stuart Wolstenholme

As both PFM and BOC (one of my top 10 bands of all time) are getting a lot of votes, I'll go for the great Gösta Berlings Saga, who put up one of the most amazing shows I've ever witnessed at the last edition of NEARfest in 2012. Looking forward to their new album, which hopefully will be out some time between the end of this year and the beginning of 2017.
