Been checking out Eloy. That accent is a tough sell (sorry, that's awful I know). I've heard about them for years and they've always been on my radar but were a bit 'square', not much musical variety for my tastes. But in all fairness they are pretty good. I especially love spacey synth and would like to find some more stuff like that, with the following provisions:
space rock mostly comprises rubbish guitar feedback bands. That isn't interesting to me.
I already like the Ozrics.
Hawkwind are a band I would desperately like to like, but most of their stuff is just twelve bar blues with a stoned guy holding down the arpeggiator button on the synth. Aside from Levitation (which is really good, thanks mainly to Ginger Baker) I just can't get into them.
Spacey means lovely floaty synth + pads. Not Rick Wakeman doing classical solos and Henrey the 8th on his moog. :D
God bless him.
Space me up Scotty.

I’ve always loved them for their guitar heavy focus. Spacey synths are nice too naturally. Gong and/or Ozric Tentacles are completely wonderful. I would recommend one of the King Crimson Projekts, Space Groove. It has Fripp and Belew playing lots and lots of guitar synth. Good stuff.

The guitar solo at 3.13 is the most spacing stuff I've heard.

I've not heard much that is as good as Eloy and Eloy themselves only nailed it for 3 albums from 1980 to 1982. After that they went a bit down the eighties power rock path and before 1980 they were more tied to classic seventies prog in style ( is there anything that floaty about Silent Cries and Mighty Echoes or Dawn?).

That seems on the cusp.
There (later) eighties stuff has all the bombast you'd expect, but still has some merit.

First of all I would like to say that I feel exactly as you do Ghost Whistler about both Eloy and Hawkwind.
I also adore the Ozrics so you can always get another one of their albums, they have many good ones.
The best band I can think of is Vespero, I think they have about 10 albums, I have most of them and I can say they are all very very good.

Don't know how spacey they are but I'm a fan of Astra....heavy at times, and Future Kings of England who are more atmospheric.

I don't really know much of this stuff, except for Pink Floyd being my favourite band, but lately I found a few ones. There's Georgius, whose 2 albums are excellent. There's Ekos, whose 2 albums are great too (specially the last one, though they sing in spanish). And there's Soup, from them I got their last album (Remedies), and it's great too. Of course, perhaps some early Porcupine Tree could do the trick... well, at least I do love their live album Coma Divine. And if you go into a bit heavier territory, some of Riverside might actually do the trick too. In general, for what I have heard, it seems bands from Poland are very keen on the spacey sound (like Georgius and Riverside, whom I already mentioned), and one I still have to get into, but I think they have some of those sounds, are SBB (who sing in polish).

Most of Tangerine Dream would not classify as "space rockin" enough but if you don't know Rubycon yet I think it should fit the bill. Slowly building into a grand space trip:
I'd recommend Brainticket's Psychonaut as well but its a little more on the "hippyish" side andyou seem very specific as to what you want/don't want.
...and how about some Kosmisher Laüfer?

Hi,
I prefer the word ... "atmospheric" ... to describe these.
Heck, even Strauss is "spacey" when you see 2001!

Have you heard their first album? Definitely not twelve bar! Especially Paranoia.

Yes, Hawkwind's worn a few different hats. I enjoy their '80s melodic-hard rock outings.

How far into their discography did you get?
I am thinking the same. I am not the biggest Hawkwind-fan, but heard most of their seventies output, that I think the most probably would have twelve bar blues and I can get into my mind any song of theirs being twelve bar blues (does op knows what it is?). Even Hurry On Sundown in the first album isn´t traditional twelve bar blues. Really I think at least "Warrior on the Edge Of Time" or "Space Ritual" are the must before saying anything about Hawkwind.

Would love to hear more, but there's no playlist anywhere

From my favorite album of theirs "Upon The Solar Winds". Maybe to rockin' for you. But it floats along, there's keyboards and not much gritty blues. Besides its got some of the vibe of early Gong live - which is surely a good thing
For some reason I cannot seem to get a link to work but there's a full album-playlist to check out if you're interested on youtube as well.

Would love to hear more before I buy but this is much more my cup of tea. Melting Euphoria are interesting but a bit samey. I've heard them before, without realising who it was.
The rest is still too guitar heavy for my taste. More stoner rock than anything else.
PS, this forum has a real problem letting me post. the capcha thing just gets in the way almost every time.

The rest? I guess you are commenting on something else than my Rubycon/Kosmisher Laufer-suggestions?
