"Images & Words" was the first Dream Theater album I ever heard, so that album gets my vote.

This is near impossible. Why not all four? Gotta choose Scenes (their masterpiece) and Six Degrees (their best epic), by just a hair.

Images & Words is my favorite DT and Awake has some great songs off it too.
