What? 2 stars for The Dreaming and 5 for Directors Cut?

I'd probably give 3 for the first 2, 4 for the next 2, 5 for Hounds of Love, 4 for the next 2, 5 for Aerial, 2 for Director's Cut and 4 for Snow.

Yes, I had a feeling awarding only two stars to The Dreaming album would be controversial, but I really don't like that album at all. Sorry. Confused

At least my low rating for The Dreaming album is offset by the four out of ten Kate Bush albums I gave full five-star ratings to, including The Director's Cut. Smile

I'm kind of surprised by your rating for The Director's Cut, I don't think it really improved on the originals much. It's not an album I listen to much.

I gave The Director's Cut album five stars because I believe it represents the best of The Sensual World and The Red Shoes albums with new improved and re-recorded versions of all of the featured songs. It's taking re-mastering one step further and re-doing the songs altogether, in the same way as her much-improved later version of Wuthering Heights which I really love now, even though I disliked - and still dislike - the original version. Smile

At least we both agree that the  Hounds of Love and Aerial albums are both worthy of five-star ratings. Smile

Your album ratings are almost the complete reverse mirror image of my ratings. In the same way as some Kate Bush fans are really surprised that I only gave The Dreaming album a poor two-star rating, I'm really surprised you only gave the Aerial album a two-star rating too. Wink

It gets such a low rating because it is a double and as such should have delivered a lot more than it did. I think it is her worst album by far and largely unlistenable. What also has to be taken into consideration is that as her first album in 13 years a lot was expected from it, and it left lots of people cold.

Wow! Your favourite? Would I be correct in guessing that you are quite young and a relatively new listener to KB?

No, totally the opposite. I'm 60 years old and I've been listening to Kate Bush right from the beginning in 1978 when she took the Pop/Rock world by storm and scaled the Wuthering Heights of the music charts, although I much prefer the re-recorded version with the new vocal. Smile

I'm guessing you don't like the Aerial album, seeing as it's not included on your list. Ermm

You're the first person I've heard saying that about Aerial. It's a pretty well received and liked album amongst KB fans in my experience. Unlistenable?

I cannot rank albums that I have not heard or I cannot recall just enough to give a rating. I have heard only one song off Aerial, just once. But it may be a hiatus in my knowledge of Kate's catalog. Lionheart is missing for similar reasons, though this album may be quite forgettable.

I'm planning to listen to Lionheart again tomorrow because I'd forgotten it, but I think it goes something like this.....

Yes to say its unlistenable is laughable. It's everything that makes Kate Bush so wonderful. Quirky , musically eclectic and displaying all her glorious eccentricity!
