Looks like top seven album lists are popular so I thought we could do the Beatles.

Here's my List:

1. The White Album
2. Revolver
3  Sgt. Pepper
4. Abby Road
5. Help
6. Rubber Soul
7. A Hard Day's Night

^  Hi Paul, I wasn't planning on it ( Feels like to much work to tally up)
If you want to keep score using your point system feel free.

Sure thing. I'd be happy to keep score, although I haven't decided which Beatles' albums I'm voting for yet. By the way, it's good to know that the Beatles are included in ProgArchives too. Smile

Anyway, here's a reminder of the points system I use for everyone's votes in a Top 7 poll:-

1st album - 12 points
2nd album - 8 points
3rd album - 6 points
4th album - 4 points
5th album - 3 points
6th album - 2 points
7th album - 1 point

The Beatles are a band I respect, but haven't really been listening to them for years. If I had to make a list though...

1. Revolver <- Tomorrow Never Knows puts it over the top
2. Abbey Road <- these two are still great, neck to neck
Gap
3. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
4. Rubber Soul
Gap
5. Magical Mystery Tour <- it's getting blurry now
6. A Hard Day's Night
7. The White Album <- uneven but some ideas were great

Yes - MMT was released as a dbl 7” with total of 6 songs (side 1 of the regular LP) with the booklet inside. I scored the original 7” package for a few bucks many years ago. This, and Revolver are the only Beatles things I genuinely like. Sgt. Pepper less so, and nothing else impresses me much, bar the odd song here and there.

I have that double 7" too, but also an album that came same time in US. It has "Hello Goodbye", "Strawberry", "Penny Lane", "Baby You´re Rich..." & "All You Need Is Love" in the second side and really those songs not low the great quality of the album!

Didn't say it was better , but I only own 5 or 6 of the albums. I don't own Abbey Road but included it because everyone else was voting for it. Truth is that I only care about the top 3 in my list but Yellow Submarine has maybe my favourite Beatles track ''It's All Too Much'' , so it pretty much gets in at 4 for that reason. I hope that clears it up Smile

Yes it was a double EP with a booklet containing the "story" of the film. I still have a copy in my loft.
So MMT as an album is a compilation album of this EP and the singles released around that time.

Indeed it was, but the US distributors decided that the EP format was dated so they put the 6 tracks from the EP on side 1 of an LP, and cobbled together all the non-album singles tracks from 1967 to make side 2, all in all making a rather splendid album.

So, essentially it is an unofficial but official album release!

I always felt that Abbey Road was their only album that sounded like a classic rock recording of the 1970s. Much like Chaplin's movies before The City Lights did not look like modern ones to me, and it was Modern Times where everything looked like modern era, especially speaking of the women's looks.

Abbey Road
Sergeant Pepper
The White Album
Let It Be
Revolver
A Hard Day's Night
Rubber Soul

So MMT as an album is a compilation album of this EP and the singles released around that time.

The album with the singles on the "B" side was originally an Australia only release on the "Music for Pleasure" label, but it proved so popular as an import that it was eventually released world wide and even eventually became part of the official canon.

At the time those singles weren't released on albums because The Beatles wanted to give their fans value for money and not put singles on albums.

This of course led to one of George Martins biggest regrets, not putting "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Penny Lane" on "Sgt. Peppers...", which in turn led to the speculation game about where they would have slotted in and which songs they would have replaced.

Each album has a few songs that has always rubbed me the wrong way, but Abbey Road has got my all time favorite medley on it, and the other two songs on side 2 aren't too shabby either. Love every second of the second side. On top of that its got I Want You (She's So Heavy) and Something.

Sgt. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band is the Beatles album of my childhood years, as it was the only original Beatles LP my parents owned (plus a compilation). Magical Mystery Tour was the first one I bought for my own money because I had heard Strawberry Fields Forever/Penny Lane...

1. Abbey Road
2. Magical Mystery Tour*
3. Sgt. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band
4. Revolver
5. Rubber Soul
6. White Album
7. Let It Be

*originally a double EP in the UK I know, but never in the US and not how I was introduced to it decades later.

I'd have to include compilations to reach 7 albums that I unhesitatingly like.

Revolver
Rubber Soul
Abbey Road
Magical Mystery Tour (although the 11 track LP version is tantamount to a compilation?)
