While researching the archives for bands named after animals for my themed poll series, there was a number of bands in the Wolf family. I used a couple on the zoo-themed polls and now I present to you the wolf pack. All of these songs were created by artists influenced by howling at the moon. With Halloween approaching at the end of the week, I thought that this might be an appropriate poll. As always with these polls, you are bound to know a couple of the artists, but hopefully most of them are obscure and new to you, the listener, and you find something new to enjoy, that you might not otherwise have found, and maybe some of you may even find yourselves dancing with wolves. Chose Darrel Ways Wolf...Toy Symphony from Saturation...but Wolf People...'When The Fire '..from Tain is an excellent track and their albums are pretty good. BTw....Wolf People is another one of those bands that fall into the cracks...could be prog folk...as they have a very strong dose of that Fairport, Steeleye Span, even Tull thing going on...if you have not heard them I recommend The Tain. ------------- One does nothing yet nothing is left undone. Exploring new music is one of the reasons why I, and many others, come to this site, and none of us are required to like or dislike anybody's recommendations. I reserve the right to explore or not, depending on my time. While I like some of the album comparison threads that have recently been sprouting up, I find those difficult to vote in since I generally haven't heard all of the albums and don't have enough ears to listen to them all. By doing these playlists I am providing individual songs that can be listened to in a relatively short period of time and at least give a vibe to what a band might sound like, although sometimes I am just including my favorite song from an album even if it isn't representative of the entire album's sound

On a related note, and native French speakers correct me if I'm wrong, one might complain about the spelling of Leloublan -- Le loup blanc (The white wolf). It doesn't mean that I would, I believe in artistic license and like word play. But Zombie Woof is not an option, and when I do such concept polls I prefer it when someone chooses between my options and then can offer another related choice, and also that's a song that references a wolf, whereas in this poll it is all based on the name of the act. There are various songs that reference wolves in my collection that I love. On to my vote: Toy Symphony gets mine. And in case I forget on the day, Happy Howloween everyone! ------------- Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I observed before. It can be much like that with music for me; immersed in experiencing the moment. |

Sorry about that, Logan. I was caught up in the spirit of the upcoming US election and did a write-in vote because I didn't know any of the choices you offered. And although Zomby Woof is a Zappa song, it is also a band from Germany ( http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=2389" rel="nofollow - http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=2389 ) which is what I was referring to.

No worries, I didn't make this topic. And I have heard of the band Zomby Woof before, but both you and Scott were talking about Zappa in the two posts that preceded mine and I didn't check your link, and got a bit confused. My bad for the assumption and laziness. I see why you would have been talking about Zappa based on the Zomby Woof bio (I'm not as familiar with Zappa as I should be by the way). Scott's mention of poor spelling made me think of the white wolf spelling in Etron Fou Leloublan which made my want to make the Happy Howloween joke. Funnily enough I was just writing something about people who don't pay enough attention to what others post, and then the howler's on me.
