These two albums are separated by three years and seventeen points, but they're both part of the same story, and the sequel reuses themes from the first. It's been over a year since the latter of the two was released; would anybody who previously evaluated both albums have a change of opinion, or perhaps just a strengthening of their original conviction?

I, personally, consider The Great Adventure to be stronger throughout. With its own original content in addition to its reprises of TSoaD material, it feels like a more definitive listening experience.

Similitude is honestly the only Neal Morse solo album that gets me excited. The first disc is great, and actually shows him breaking out of the standard Neal Morse-isms, but the second disc is just way too dependent on reprises despite some good standalone tracks like The Sloth. Unfortunately it falls victim to "Neal Morse Dragging Out a Solid Sixty Minute Record to a Double Discer Syndrome" or NMDOSSMRDD for short, rolls right off the tongue. The Great Adventure just wasn't a worthy followup imo.

Both are superb imho but The Similitude Of A Dream is slightly better imho

'The Similitude' is the first-born, the archetype, so this is what I will choose.

TGA by a margin.

I expected TSoaD to be winning, but this ratio is bigger than I thought.

So would you say TGA merely continued the quality of Similtude's second disc, or it just didn't meet the first disc's bar? Quite the initialism you created, by the way!
