The Myths and Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.
Only the king's sword on the artwork (but a lot of stuff inside).

Gentle Giant, easily.

And strictly speaking, the Tull album doesn't show a king: that's a knave (a Jack, in the playing card deck) on the cover, as the album title suggests...

Oh, such experts on royal dress. Only the King wears a crown with spires on it. That is why the top of the Jack's (knave's) crown in a deck of cards is always cut off at the top showing only the base of the crown. That was not done on all four cards by accident. The fellow over the album crest does indeed have a crown with spires and is therefore a King. Just look at any deck of playing cards ever made. The oldest ones have the Jack's wearing only a hat.

I stand corrected sir, with apologies. But can I at least save face by pinning the error on Ian Anderson? He should have chosen a different album title, or another illustration...

And my apologies to you as well, but these asides do get tiresome. And worse yet with Anderson is that no King and Queen are on the cover of Minstrel In The Gallary. The cover illustration shows the minstrel in a raucous banquet hall.

Musically, definitely GG; In terms of how much I like the cover art/painting, definitely Parsons. As for the others, I am not a big Rush fan (or not a Rush fan at all, to be more precise) but this album is really good, cover's kind of boring; Tull's 'Crest' is fine too, far from their best and cover's ok.
I haven't heard this Elvis album and Roine Stolt is spot-on modern symphonic rock.

it was either this or the The Flower King that proceeded it, as the art work is so samilar (same artist) so I flipped a coin and The Flower King won. The Flower King cover is better also. Sorry.

I don't know among this ones. The ones I know I don't wholly love (though they may have some songs I do like a lot), and a few more I don't even know. But I would definitley have voted for 6 Wives or King Arthur if either of them had been included.

Six Wives for sure, tho in this instance Elvis (THE king) gets my vote.

Actually if it was back in the World of Adventures I might have voted for The Flower Kings. Six Wives of Henry VIII I would have definitely voted for. Hemispheres would have got the nod if there was a king on the cover. Farewell to Kings doesn't do it for me as Hemispheres does. I lieu of all that I gave the Gentle Giant the nod.

One of my favorite albums of all time. And the cover rocks. Probably because it really just looks like a playing card I'd like to own.

Gentle Giants best album imo. It all hangs together like a beautiful mathematical equation. Farewell To Kings is my favourite 70's album by Rush but I don't like it as much as The Power and The Glory. Nothing else there interests me.

The musician was a drummer with a jazz/rock fusion band prior to getting his PhD in music and starting his classical career. I highly doubt the drums were electronic.

The best album off this list is of course TPatG by Gentle Giant, closely followed by AF2K by Rush... even though my actual favorite is Roine Stolt's The Flower King. B)

EDIT:
BTW Scheherazade and Other Stories would count as an album with a King on the cover as well IMHO. Do you agree?
