It could be a one-off song, an entire album, or an entire career.. For me, it's the band America, and here's one song which has nice harmonies. Funny thing is, Gerry Beckley's voice can annoy me. It's too nasally, but when it's mixed with Dewey (one of my favorites) and Peek, it sounds good. Last concert I went to was America, and after the first line of Gerry's singing, my cousin looked at me and said, "What the f**k?" like he had just witnessed horror (the nasal REALLY came out in this small venue). But still a band I like very much, who had a lot of very good songs, and usually not the hits, although most are really good.

For me, two groups come to mind: The Residents and Magma.

Alice In Chains was the first band that immediately sprung to my mind. Their music has always been built on harmonies, whether multi-layered harmonies from Layne, harmonies between Layne and Jerry, harmonies between Layne and guest vocalists like Ann Wilson, or in recent times, multi-layered harmonies from Jerry, and harmonies between Jerry and Will.
Simon and Garfunkel would probably be the first artists who drew me in with their harmonies, though. I’ve loved their music since I was a wee sprog (whereas I was a teen when Alice In Chains came into my life).

If this was a poll, then I'd be Helplessly Hoping that Crosby, Stills & Nash might be in with a good chance of winning.

FYI, I put this on the "General Music" so you could list whatever you want. Prog or not.
I do like Barclay James Harvest vocals - very .. soothing with some eeriness.

The songs sung by The Andrews Sisters always blow me away.
I, too, love America, CSN&Y, Simon & Garfunkle, The Mamas and the Papas, The Association, and even Yes, Genesis, and Gentle Giant, Simon & Garfunkle.
Also, Pure Reason Revolution, Wobbler, Infinien, Midlake, The Moulettes, Hands of the Heron, Katharine Blake projects like Mediæval Bæbes, and projects by the Cavanaugh brothers (of Anathema fame).

I really love the way Tai Phong did vocal harmonies on their first 2 albums.

Todd Rundgren. Brilliant singer in my book. You can feel the pain or joy in his voice. His band Utopia has killer harmony vocals.

Hell yeah, they absolutely cook. Buck Privates a favorite appearance of mine.
The Everly Brothers. Fundamental to rock 'n roll vocalizing. And the Beach Boys, not just for great harmonies but because they informed rock bands how to use authoritative, paradigmatic vocals.
