the Supreme Court is going to pick up Moore v. Harper in October. this is ominous; if the decision goes the way it can be expected with a 6-3 majority of the GOP it will have a serious impact on future elections.

they also took away the right of the EPA to control carbon dioxide emissions. what will be next on their agenda?

They only have one agenda...complete and total capitulation of the masses to their theocracy.

Case in point.

Remember, they always say the quite part out loud.

yes, I had already seen this. Lauren Boebert is of course one of the ultra-crazies. she and Marjorie Taylor Greene are the two dumbest cows in the GOP. perhaps they could be used to pull a cart together Wink

Yes, this is quite serious, and after the R v. W debacle, it's also very scary.

Ironically enough, they apparently hate each other following several angry exchanges regarding Greene speaking to openly white supremacists. I suppose Lauren was interested in trying to keep such things more secret.

Hi,

Sadly, I'm not sure this can be changed or stopped, unless the country wakes up one day and realizes that a court that is heavily controlled by a specific block of folks, is not a proper court of "law" at all, but just a realization of the American idea that might makes right ... that is the party in control does its thing ... but I suppose that we could also blame the democrats in America for not paying attention and allowing these things to happen, and not taken to the polls to change a lot of these things ...

I think America, in this political sense, doesn't care anymore ... specially when the media's main function these days is to confuse people ... and there are no alternative publications that could show us something else ... ohhh how I miss the LA Free Press in its heyday ... not only did it tell us stuff that many were saying was just fabricated innuendos, but it ended up giving up all kinds of music, from Frank Zappa to later, being a major player in the LA based punk scene, that even went so far as to sue the local FM stations for not playing their work, and THEY WON ... but they lost the war in the end, when the Feds took over the FCC and all the stations became just another nickel in the corporate rape of the American media! All of it to make sure they got their money out of it, and those independents went to find some living in those tents along the highways to hell!

These clowns will stop at nothing. They will even deny women the right to vote despite of the 19th amendment (which was passed in 1919 and ratified in 1920). They will point out that "The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex" does not say "gender" but "sex" and will claim that it means "The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of having had sex".

So what I asked in the abortion thread is already in play. I asked how can separation of church from state stand if the SCOTUS permits states to implement total bans on abortion. And that's exactly where they want to go, it seems. And as long as the Dems keep hunting for the last few elusive right wing votes, the GOP will not face significant obstacles in overturning even the secular characteristic of the republic.
